Victoria University Sydney Admission Requirements

Victoria University (VU) has separate academic and English-proficiency requirements for international students across UG and PG levels. Requirements for each certificate, diploma or advanced diploma programs are course-specific.

VU Sydney Masters Admission Requirements

To gain admission to a master’s degree program at Victoria University, applicants must hold an undergraduate qualification equivalent to an Australian bachelor’s degree, honours degree, or graduate diploma.

English Language Proficiency Requirements:

• IELTS: Overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0

• TOEFL: Overall score of 79, with minimum section scores as follows:
  • Listening: 19
  • Speaking: 19
  • Reading: 18
  • Writing: 22
• PTE Academic: Overall score of 58–64, with no section score less than 50
• CAE: Overall score of 176, with no individual band less than 169
• VU English: Completion of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Level 6.

VU Sydney Bachelors Admission Requirements

To qualify for a bachelor’s degree at Victoria University, applicants must have completed a secondary school qualification equivalent to the Australian Year 12 certificate.

English Language Proficiency Requirements:

• IELTS: Overall score of 6.0, with no band less than 6.0

• TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 67, with minimum section scores as follows:
  • Listening: 12
  • Speaking: 18
  • Reading: 15
  • Writing: 21
• PTE Academic: Overall score of 50–57, with no section score less than 50
• CAE: Overall score of 169, with no individual band less than 169

VU Sydney Research Admission Requirements

Admission to a research program at Victoria University requires one of the following qualifications:

• An honours degree.
• A master's degree by coursework with a research component.
• An equivalent qualification from an accredited university.

Applicants with a master's degree lacking a research component may qualify for a PhD (Integrated) program offered by the Institutes for Health and Sport or Sustainable Industries and Liveable Cities.
