Northern Lakes College International Student Admissions

International students can apply for any of the programs or courses offered by Continuing Education at Northern Lakes College using the Alberta application portal or the NLC College application and can also choose the desired mode of study through flexible delivery methods. Students must submit all the supporting documents along with their translations properly as the Northern Lakes College begins processing the application only after receiving all the documents. International students are suggested to apply before four months of the start date of the programs.

English Language Proficiency Tests Scores

International students whose native language is other than English must submit proof of English Language Proficiency as all the programs at Northern Lakes College are delivered in English. Northern Lakes College accepts several standard language tests. Test scores must not be more than two years old. The below table shows minimum scores of accepted English Language tests. Some programs may require higher scores or an interview with the program advisor.

Visa Process For International Students

International students who wish to study in Canada require a study permit For Canada. International students from India, Pakistan, China, Brazil etc are eligible to apply through the Student Direct Stream. Applications submitted through the Students Direct( Stream will be processed within 20 days upon meeting all the eligibility requirements and submitting your biometrics. Applications through SDS must be submitted online, for submitting biometrics applicants can visit the nearest application centre. Sometimes students may also be interviewed for processing their applications. A study permit is valid for the length of your study program plus an extra 90 days.

Visa Requirements

• Guaranteed investment certificate of Canadian 10,000 CAD

Students whose application doesn’t meet the eligibility for the Student Direct Stream will be reviewed as a regular study permit and may take 11 weeks to process your applications. Students can also submit their missing documents by login into their account. Upon acceptance students will receive their study permit at the port of entry or through the mail.

Northern Lakes College Program Admissions

Diplomas at Northern Lakes College offer a wide range of choices along with certificate courses etc in Academic Upgrading, Business and Administrative Studies, Health Careers, University Studies, Apprenticeship trades, Dual Credit and Corporate training programs etc.

Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements for the program and general requirements as well to be eligible for admission.

How to apply?

Prospective students can apply online using the Alberta application portal or through the Northern Lakes College application.

Using the Alberta application portal applicants can apply for more than one post-secondary institution. It helps in the faster processing of applications transfers transcripts without any fee.

Using the NLC application portal, students must fill out the NLC application form and must submit all the supporting documents via email to the admission office.

Admission Requirements

• Academic transcripts evaluated by IQAS or CICIC sent directly to the office

Additional documents such as personal statements, interviews, resumes, portfolios, etc. are also required for some of the programs at Northern Lakes College.

Program Specific Requirements for some of the programs are as follows:

Upon submitting the applications the admission team at the Northern Lakes College sends an email within 24 hours. Based on the information submitted the applicants will be contacted by the admission team if there are any errors in the application or if any information is missing. The admission specialist reviews your application and contacts you if there are any additional requirements needed or if you need a placement test. Generally, it takes two weeks to process the applications and make a decision. Students who are accepted will receive an acceptance letter. Students must pay a non-refundable confirmation fee of 300 CAD that will be later added to their tuition fees. Students must provide a study permit at least three weeks before the start of the program.

Sometimes students who have to meet all the requirements may be kept on the waitlist if the number of seats for the program gets full. Such students will be informed later if seats are made available.
