BTU Germany Deadlines 2026

In the summer intake, only limited programs are offered by the university. Most bachelor’s programs and some master’s programs are unavailable for summer intake.

The deadline for the summer intake 2026 is as follows:

• Bachelor’s programs: 15 January 2026
• Master’s programs: 15 January 2026 (restricted) and 1 March 2026 (unrestricted)

For winter intake 2026, all programs are available. The portal for bachelor’s and master’s applications for the Winter intake is available from 1st March 2026. Below is the table to refer:

• Restricted admission: Courses with limited seats, harder to get admission in (i.e., MSc Biotechnology)

• Unrestricted admission: Courses with no fixed number of seats available

BTU Cottbus Senftenberg Campus

The university has 3 campuses, two of which are in Cottbus and one in Senftenberg. The main campus is in the city of Cottbus, near the city centre and the train station. The 2nd campus is also in the city of Cottbus. The 3rd campus is in the city of Senftenberg and is approximately 30 to 40 minutes away from the main campus via train.

As per the university portal, 45% of the total 7500 students are constituted by international students. Women make up 42% of the total number of students at BTU. The students can commute on campus and within the city of Cottbus via trams or buses. They connect the city centre and the BTU main campus stops. One can take the train for 1.5 hours to reach the city of Berlin.​

For Indian students, the Indian Student Association Cottbus (ISAC) is one of the most active and official student groups at BTU. They organise all sorts of events for Indian students to feel at home.

Note: Upon arrival at BTU, the students can join the Buddy programs, which help the students connect with people of the same nationality

Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus Part-Time Jobs

The university offers several part-time job opportunities to students. Apart from those, the students can look for part-time jobs outside the campus as well. Below you can find the information on:

Off-Campus Jobs:

• Most off-campus jobs require B2 or C1 level German proficiency.
• International students report that finding jobs without this level of German is generally difficult in Cottbus.
• Better IT job opportunities are often found in Berlin with language flexibility.

On-Campus Jobs

• The university offers on-campus part-time jobs, which are easier for students to manage alongside their studies.
• All on-campus jobs are listed on BTU’s official Job Exchange: jobboerse.
• The main type of on-campus job is Studentische Hilfskraft (HiWi).
• HiWi includes research assistance, laboratory support, tutoring, or administrative help within university departments.

Note: There is no strict weekly hour limit by the university, but 20 hours per week is advised by the German Residence law.

Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus Accommodation

The university always suggests that students apply for housing at least 3-4 months before moving in. The on-campus housing cost ranges from €220 – €340 (₹23,500 – ₹36,400) per month. This cost includes the electricity, heating, and internet.
