Admission Process

Fulda University of Applied Sciences International Students Admission

The application process for international students at Fulda University requires the students to keep in mind the two types of admissions:

  • Direct Admission: If the applicant’s previous coursework is equivalent to German Abitur.
  • Indirect Admission: Applicants will have to attend a preparatory course if the previous coursework is not equivalent to German Abitur.

English Language Proficiency

International students who are applying for a program taught in English at Fulda University can show the proof of their English proficiency by submitting a score of 79 on the TOEFL (IBT).

German Language Proficiency

German language skills at DSH 2 level are required. The following requirements are common for both undergraduate and graduate admissions:

  • If applying for the winter semester
    • Before May 1: German B1 or equivalent;
    • From May 1: DSH 1 or B2 or equivalent.
  • If applying for the summer semester
    • Before November 1: German B1 or equivalent;
    • From November 1: DSH 1 or B2 or equivalent.

Post-Application Requirements

After the International Office has received the application documents, the applicant will receive confirmation of receipt by email together with notification of any missing documents. If the applicant fulfils the formal admission requirements, the International Office will forward the application to the department in charge of the study programme to which admission has been applied. It is the department’s final call to admit.

  • Once selected for admission to the study programme, the International Office will send an official letter of acceptance (Zulassungsbescheid).
  • Letters of acceptance are either unconditional or conditional.
    • But further documents on the day of enrolment would be required if admissions are conditional, in the latest order to begin studying.
    • Letter of acceptance will contain detailed information about what is required.
  • If application documents do not fulfil the formal admission requirements or if the department does not admit you to the study programme, the applicant will receive notification (Ablehnungsbescheid) and all the documents will be returned.

Fulda University of Applied Sciences Undergraduate Admissions

Bachelor’s program application process is not much different for domestic students and for international students but there are some formalities for international applicants for studying at Fulda University.

Application Fee: 75 EUR. But for each additional course option, a fee of 30 EUR will be charged.

Admission Requirements:

  • A printed version of the online application form with the applicant’s original signature.
  • Certified copy in the original language of secondary school transcript, including courses taken and grades/marks, awarded.
  • Certified copy in the original language of documentation showing that the applicant has passed the university entrance examination in his/her home country.
