University of Goettingen Application Process

Graduate applicants at the University of Göttingen must complete the following steps to successfully enroll:

Step 1: Online Registration

• Register online starting 01 June for the winter semester or 01 December for the summer semester.
• Enter your email and select your intended semester.
• Confirm your registration via the link sent to your email.

Step 2: Enrolment Data Submission

• Fill out the online enrolment form and submit it electronically.
• You will receive a registration number and a second email linking you to the document upload portal.

Step 3: Upload Required Documents

Upload the following documents via the portal (do not send by post):

• Admission/acceptance letter
• Degree certificates (Bachelor/Master/Diploma)
• Proof of German language proficiency (if required)
• Certificate of de-registration or previous study (if applicable)
• Proof of semester fee payment
• Measles vaccination proof (for medical students)

Finalize submission by clicking "binding submission".

Step 4: Pay Semester Fees

Transfer the semester fee to the university’s bank account using your registration number and full name as reference. Enrolment is only finalized upon payment confirmation.

Step 5: Health Insurance Verification

• Contact a German statutory health insurance provider to confirm your insurance status.
• The provider will report your status directly to the university.
• If privately insured, request an official exemption report.

Step 6: Final Enrollment

• The university processes your application and documents (typically 2–3 weeks).
• Once complete, you'll receive an email with your Student ID and details to begin your studies.

University of Goettingen Undergraduate Application Process

Step 1: Register Online

Sign up on the university’s portal using your email. Confirm via the link sent and save your login. Registration reopens on 01 September.

Step 2: Submit Application

Start a new application, select your degree and semester, upload required documents, and submit the application. Only fully submitted applications are processed.

Step 3: Pay Evaluation Fee

Pay a €65 fee per application semester via bank transfer. Applications without payment (unless exempt) won’t be reviewed.

Step 4: Admission Decision

Results are emailed between July–August (Winter) or January–February (Summer).
