Identified in their logo as an independent university since 1999, Mainz University of Applied Sciences is a young German university formed by the dissolution of the 18th century academy - Fachhochschule Rheinland-Pfalz. Campus

  • Mianz has divided its locations into three, which are Campus, Holzstrasse, and Wallstrasse locations, respectively.
  • The Campus location consists of the School of Business, School of Engineering, and Department of Geoinformatics and Surveying.
  • It has central facilities like the Presidium and Central administration.
  • The Holzstrasse location contains the Schools of Engineering and Design, which have the Departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Interior Architecture, and Communication Design.

Housing facilties/Residence

  • Accommodation is not provided by the university but is rather managed by the Student Services (Studierendenwerk) in Mainz.
  • Students can choose between Student Dormitories (All Students) and Buddy Program Mainz-Bingen (International Students Only).
  • For a room in student dormitory, students are required to contact Student Services.
  • The application form has a “dormitory selection” section, where the applicants can specify priorities between several buildings, complexes, and other accommodations.
  • All rooms are not available in sufficient numbers; therefore, the order in which the applications are received determines the allocation of rooms.
  • After being accepted, students will receive a binding rental agreement from Student Services via email. This must be signed and returned.
  • In case student dormitories are not available, Student Services also assists students in finding private accommodations.
  • For international students, there is a Buddy Program in place that brings together German and international students in one-to-one contact each semester.
  • The Buddy Program is also managed by the Student Services and establishes intercultural interactions between German and international students and promotes cultural harmony.

Mainz University of Applied Sciences International Admission

International students are required to submit their application for bachelors and masters program admission through the uni-assist portal. Reason for enrollment to masters program must also be included with the application.

Language Proficiency Requirement for International Students

German language proficiency, of B1 level, is required for programs taught in german. International students can demonstrate german proficiency by submitting one of the following certificates:

  • German language examination for university entrance at least level 1 (DSH-1)
  • Goethe certificate at least B2

International students are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL as a proof of English proficiency, for programs taught in English2.

Visa Requirement for International Students

International students, from Non-European countries, must acquire a Germany student visa to study at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Students can apply for the visa with the embassy. It is recommended that they apply for a student visa in their respective countries.
