Also known as Julius-Maximilians-University, the University of Wuerzburg is a public university situated in the Wuerzburg region of Germany. It was established 600 years ago in 1402, making it one of the oldest universities in Germany. JMU was the sixth institution of higher education in earlier Germany. The university has given many famous scholars and scientists that include 14 Nobel laureates, including Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen and Emil Fischer.

The university has an extensive choice of subjects at various degree levels. University of Wuerzburg offers 250 degree programs with about 28,277 students enrolled. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, for the Winter Semester of 2023-2024, the University of Wuerzburg will not accept international applications after July 15, 2023. Notarized copies and translations won't be required until the enrollment at the university.

Admission Process

The University of Würzburg is ranked among the top universities in Germany and the top 200 institutions in the world by the ARWU/Shanghai Ranking. On a global platform, it is well-known for conducting world-class research with a global impact. In 2022-23 winter admissions, 28,244 students were enrolled under 250-degree programs offered by the University of Würzburg.

The university promotes internationalization and offers admissions to international students in winter and summer semesters. Prospective applicants are not required to pay an application fee to complete the application. They are required to fill an admission form within the priority deadline to speed up their application process.

Even though bachelor's degree programs begin in the winter semester every year; some programs also allow freshmen students to enroll in the summer semester. In Germany, all students are required to obtain health insurance and a visa to study in Germany. At the time of enrolment, proof of health insurance must be submitted. German Visa for International Students

Students who are citizens of an EU or EEA country do not require a visa and only need a valid passport. The same is the case for students from certain countries, although they do require a residence permit if they plan to remain for more than a certain period; usually 90 days. Indian students require a visa to study in Germany. They need to apply for a student visa after receiving the acceptance notification from the university.
