The Public College Samana was established in the year 1969 under the chairmanship of Sh. SL. Kapoor, IAS the then deputy commissioner of Patiala. The university situated in Patiala was declared as a “model college” by the Patiala university in the year 1996.

The university is spread in a radius of more than 35 km with a pollution-free environment. The university offers various undergraduate and post graduates courses in areas such as science, commerce, Arts, and Computer science. The college has also introduced various vocational career based courses which are sponsored by UGC.

Girls hostel: the college has constructed a girls hostel for the girls who live far away from the college. With the hostel facilities, the female candidates can pursue their careers without any difficulties.
