Sree Rama Government Polytechnic College, Thrissur was founded in the year 1958 under the private sector, but in the year 1972, the government of Kerala took over the polytechnic college and renamed it as Sree Rama Government Polytechnic College.
- In 1991, the polytechnic college participated in an International Project named Canada India Institution Cooperating Project organised by the Associate of Canadian Community and Canadian International Development Agency.
