The Hague University of Applied Sciences(THUAS), Netherlands was established in 1987. The Hague University of Applied Sciences Programs, Campus and Residence

  • The university offers over 65 Bachelor’s degree programs in the field of Industrial Design Engineering, International Business, International Communication Management Process & Food technology etc. Most of the programs are four year courses, however, some can be shortened to three year of study. Programs are offered in English and Dutch Language.
  • Masters programs in Business Administration & Management, Finance & Risk and Organisation & Employability sector are offered. Courses are offered to professionals with work experience.
  • The University has 5 campuses in- Main Building The Hague, Poseidon, Delft, Zuiderpark Sports Campus, and Zoetermeer having 5 different departments- Business and Management, Public Management, law and safety, Health, nutrition and sports, IT and design, Technology, innovation and society.
  • On-campus housing has 650 fully-furnished rooms. There is a non-refundable housing fee of 250 Euro (not applicable to Masters students). This housing fee doesn’t mean the cost of rooms.
  • Apartments are available for off-campus housing.

Financial Aid

The university does not have much scholarship options for international students, however, there are some scholarship given by Dutch Ministry for international students -

  • Holland Scholarship – An amount of 5,000 Euro is awarded to first year students who are not from European countries. Applicable for Bachelors and Masters students studying in Dutch institutions.
  • Erasmus+ – Applicants must at least 12 months in Europe doing their Bachelors or Masters degree. Grants are given on the basis of academic achievement.
  • The Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS) is part of the Holland Scholarship and is offered by Dutch higher education institutions, multinationals and government organisations for talented students. The OTS is available in Brazil, China, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Admission Process

The Hague University of Applied Sciences offers admissions to 65+ undergraduate (15 taught in English) and around 11 graduate (three are taught in English) degrees. Programs at THUAS are offered in five main areas including IT and Design, Business and Management, Health, Nutrition and Sports; Technology, Innovation, and Society, and Public Management, Law, and Safety. Annually, the Hague University enrolls 26,000 students each year from 150 countries while working with 333 other educational institutions across the globe.

Covid Updates

  • University is open for students, external staff, and third-party members of the university. Premises are open for all research-related activities, practical education, and exams.
  • Session 2021-22 is going to start from September 2021, however, general covid restrictions are going to be followed.
  • Students are required to get vaccinated before the session starts or they can get vaccinated in the Netherlands.

The Hague University of Applied Sciences International Admissions

Admissions for international students are relatively easy. If applicants meet the standard entry requirements such as academic score, documents, passports, and transcripts, they can easily secure admission.

While THUAS doesn’t need applicants to submit GRE or GMAT scores, it needs them to submit scores of other tests required to study in the Netherlands.

The English language proficiency test score requirement is the same for all PG courses at THUAS- an overall IELTS score of 6.5 with minimum 6.0 in each section. However, contrary to this, UG programs accepts various language tests and have different test score requirements:

Dutch Language Proficiency

Students wishing to enroll in a Dutch-taught program with a foreign diploma will be required to take the Dutch language proficiency tests, Program II (NT2-II) state exam. This examination tests the student in areas that include listening, speaking, writing, and reading.

Netherlands Student Visa

International students from Indian-Subcontinent region require both Residence Permit and Visa to study in the Netherlands. The university applies for the visa and residence permit on behalf of students if they are selected. Students need to submit the required documents to university and pay the required fees. The application for a visa is also submitted by the university application portal – uSis. The standard deadlines are June 1 and December 1.
