Texas Christian University (TCU) is a private university situated in Fort Worth, Texas. It was established in 1873 by Addison and Randolph Clark as the Add-Ran Male & Female College and after going through a series of relocations, it was finally moved back to its original location Fort Worth in 1910.

Texas Christian University Scholarships

  • Based on academic achievement and promise, scholarships may be awarded to international students to fund studying in the US. Some of the scholarships provided are:
    • Freshman Academic Scholarships: TCU rewards outstanding scholarly achievement through academic scholarships. These awards are based on the strength of the high school curriculum and standardized test scores. A 3.0 cumulative GPA is required after the freshman year and a 3.25 cumulative GPA is required in subsequent years.
    • Transfer Academic Scholarships: It is TCU’s most competitive merit award which includes full tuition for six semesters. Eligible students are required to submit two letters of recommendation and a resume.
    • Performance-based Scholarships: TCU also offers a variety of talent-based awards. The recipients of these awards are recommended by the individual departments. This includes awards in fields like Athletic, Dance, Music, Choir, etc.

Admission Process

With an acceptance rate of 41%, Texas Christian University manifests a competitive admission policy for international students. All undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs at Texas Christian University observe a holistic approach to the student selection process. Currently, the application fee is waived off for UG applicants. However, PG applicants are required to pay around 60-100 USD (~4,300-7,300 INR).  

The university is test-optional and has no minimum requirement for GPA or standardized test scores. Students with excellent academic achievements, outstanding scores in various exams to study in USA and multiple LORs have a high chance of getting selected for admission. International students require verified financial statements to support the student’s expenses of at least 1 year. Selected students will receive an I-20 form sent by the college to apply for a US student visa.

Texas Christian University Admission Deadlines

The university offers an array of courses for international students that observe flexible admissions deadlines. The admissions are generally done for Spring and Fall semester. Texas Christian University International Student Admissions

Texas Christian University, USA accepts international students from all over the world representing 84 countries. The International Students must have completed equivalent Education to that of US High School Diploma. The process for international applicants and domestic students is quite similar except for the fact that they need to submit some additional requirements. The application as well supporting documents must be submitted before the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Admission Requirements - International Applicants must fulfill the following conditions to be eligible for Texas Christian University Admissions:

  • Completed application.
  • Official Transcripts of School - These must be sent directly to Texas Christian University by the school. These can be either emailed at [email protected] or sent through mail in a sealed envelope. If it is not in English then it must be translated and sent with certified translations in English. 
  • ACT/ SAT scores.
  • Proof of English Proficiency- TOEFL/IELTS.
  • Essay on one of the four topics given by the University (300- 400 words).
  • Academic LOR from School Counselor, or School Teacher.
  • Resume (Graduate Students).
  • GMAT and GRE scores for graduate students.
  • Students can submit any of their work such as poems, essays, paintings if they wish to.
  • Bank Documents supporting the capability of the parents/guardian to support the finances of the students for at least one year.
  • Certificate of finances.
  • Passport Copy.

English Proficiency Test Scores

International Students need to demonstrate that they are proficient in English language. One way to do so is Standardized English Proficiency test Scores like TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent. The Students from English Speaking Nations are exempted from these tests. Students with strong SAT/ ACT scores for it. The Minimum Scores required are listed below:

Visa Process for International Students

International Applicants need to obtain an F1 visa to study in the USA or to pursue their education at Texas Christian University, USA. The steps involved in obtaining the same are:

  • The accepted students will be mailed the I- 20 form along with the acceptance letter.
  • The applicant then needs to contact the US Embassy in their Home Country and proceed with the Application.
  • They need to pay I-901 SEVIS Fee.
  • The Documents required in VISA application are: valid passport, certificate of finances, bank statements, transcripts, standardized scores, proof of health insurance/ verification form, original I- 20, receipt of the payment of SEVIS fee.
