Ques. I am an International student. Do I need health insurance?

Ans. International students on F-1 and J-1 visas must purchase health insurance from a UAH’s insurance provider which will cost approx $600.

Ans. Residential students who test positive and/or who may have come into close contact with someone who tested positive will be provided with isolation spaces. The isolation procedure will be per medical guidance.

The university takes applications on a rolling basis which means that the applications will be processed as soon as possible once required documents are received. Individuals who apply on the dates provided below will be given priority admittance. Applicants who apply after the enlisted dates will also be considered but admission decisions for the semester of your choice will not be considered.

For undergraduate students

UAH suggests that high school students apply during the fall semester of their senior year. UAH offers rolling admissions, so they do not have an admissions application deadline. Students are automatically awarded Merit Tuition Scholarships (based on high school GPA and test scores) at the time of admission.

For graduate students

The international students willing to study in the US and planning to study at UAH must meet all the established requirements for admission from their secondary schools in their respective native places. They also have to apply 6 months prior to the term of desired attendance so that they can face timely admission, leading to a successful enrollment for their desired course.

Application fee: Non-refundable fee of $30 (UG) or $60 (PG)

Application requirements: These requirements given below have to be met for a successful application for the student’s desired course:

  1. A completed undergraduate international application form.
  2. Official high school and university transcripts including English translations must be forwarded to the University of Alabama, Huntsville directly from the previously attended school or college– evaluated by an authorized agency. Personal copies are not accepted here.
  3. The applicants must provide a certificate of Foreign Credit Evaluation for the courses they enrolled in previously in their high school and college (if attended) outside The U.S. It must contain the grade point average and course by course description from the institutions they attended previously.
  4. SAT, ACT scores must be sent directly to The University of Alabama, Huntsville.
  5. The TOEFL or IELTS test scores must be directly sent from their assigned testing services.
  6. Applicants who are non native speakers must provide the Proof of English Language Proficiency which is required for their effective communication during the courses at UAH.
  7. Also for all non native applicants an English Language Placement Test (ELPT) is taken and the student is required to complete the coursework given for the test.

International students are to submit their TOEFL or IELTS scores for proving their proficiency in the language. These are the minimum scores required for admission to UAH:-

Visa process for international students

The candidates must apply for their visa in the country where they are residing currently.
