Illinois College International Admissions

International students aspiring to apply to Illinois College must meet the course requirements, have an average required GPA, SAT/ACT scores or english proficiency test scores, letters of recommendations, health insurance and financial support for one academic year. The requirements to get into Illinois College as an international applicant are as follows:

• Online application duly filled
• Official certified copies of academic records of all the previously gained degrees/certificates in English.
• Essay or a Statement of Purpose
• English proficiency test scores: IELTS/TOEFL/PTE etc. Students who had their medium of instruction as English are required to submit either a SAT or an ACT score, or can send either of the english proficiency test scores.
• A completed health information form is required by the Illinois College Office of Health Services. International students are required to purchase health insurance through Illinois College (it costs about 2,200 USD for one year)

Note- Students applying for a degree in Arts may need Letters of recommendation, interviews or artworks as a portfolio to be submitted.

Illinois College Admission International transfer students

Illinois College is inclined to be a transfer friendly institution. The average GPA required for a transfer student is above 2.5, and they are required to have completed the preparatory courses. Transfer students may apply for either the fall semester or the spring semester. August 01 for Fall semester and January 1 for the Spring semester are the application deadlines.

Transfer application requirements

The requirements for students who are trying to get into Illinois College as a transfer student are the following:

• Minimum 15 hours credit completion from an accredited four-year high school or the equivalent.
• A GPA minimum 2.5 in the recently completed semester.
• A minimum of 24 transferable credits completed. If 24 credits have not been completed at the time the candidate submits their application, the student’s high school record will also be evaluated.

Transfer application procedure

The candidates who are interested in transferring to Illinois College are encouraged to submit the application through the college admission portal or Common Application. Both can be submitted electronically and no application fee is charged from the student. To complete the application procedure, the student must do the following:

• Official final high school transcript is to be submitted. The transcript must contain the final senior year grades and must indicate the date of graduation.
• Official transcripts from all course work must be submitted from each institution attended.

English language proficiency test scores requirements

U.S. Visa for international students

The students who wish to study in the USA at Illinois College require a student visa. The eligibility requirements for the same require an i-20 form which will be issued by the institute after the student has been accepted. To get an i-20 form from the university, the student must submit the following documents:

• Proof of necessary funds for covering the academic and living expenses of the student aiming to study at Illinois College for one whole year. That will include the following:
  • Bank statement declaring financial stability
  • Sponsorship letter showing financial support
• A copy of a valid passport.
• Properly filled out ‘Illinois College Financial Questionnaire’.
• Health Insurance

Once Illinois College issues the i-20 form, students can proceed with the F-1 or J-1 student visa application and payment of the SEVIS fee. The student needs to contact the US Embassy/Consulate in their home country to ensure the documents required for the visa application.

The general documents required for a visa application are as follows:

• Copy of a valid passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the candidate’s period of stay in the USA.
• Completed visa application along with the receipt of visa application fee. (form DS-160 confirmation page)
• Photograph in the requested format.
• Acceptance letter from Illinois College.
• I-20 form issued by the college.
• Academic preparation documents such as transcripts, diplomas, degrees and certificates.
• Evidence of sufficient funds to maintain academic expenses for an entire year. This may include bank statements or financial undertaking by a sponsor to cover accommodation and living costs of the student.
• Scholarship form (if applicable).
• Evidence that the student will leave the US once the degree is completed. It might include an air ticket to the student’s home country.

After submitting the required documents, the student should wait for further instructions from the authorities. They have to appear for an interview with the US embassy/consulate in their home country. After clearing the interview, a stamp will be issued on the passport which will eventually act as a visa to the USA.
