Programs, Campus, and Residence

Programs

The School of Business offers programs at undergraduate, graduate and PhD level. They do offer certain other certificate programs as well. Some of the most popular majors offered by the School of Business include accounting, business administration, business data analysts, finance, management, marketing.

Apart from this, the School of Business offers graduate-level programs in MBA. The school is categorized in full time, part-time or executive MBA. There are some specialized master's programs as well. 

These include MS in Accounting, MS in Business Analytics & Project Management, MS in Financial Risk Management and MS in Human Resource Management. There are certain graduate certificate programs as well. The school of business also offers a PhD in Business.

Campus

The University of Connecticut School of Business has a total of four campuses at different Connecticut locations with the main campus located at Storrs, Connecticut. The other three campuses are Hartford, Waterbury, Stamford. The School of business is located throughout Connecticut for easy access to students. 

Storrs campus deals with the primary administrative functions of the business school. Apart from this it also handles all the undergraduate and PhD programs in addition to the graduate program in accounting and human resource management. 

Hartford campus deals with business's schools part-time, full time and executive MBA program offices, classrooms and conference facilities. 

Waterbury campus offers the four-year bachelor's degree program with majors in business data analysts and business administration. In addition to this, it also offers a part-time MBA program and some graduate business certificate programs. 

Stamford campus has a say in providing internships, field placements, and jobs.

Residence

UConn provides housing to 12,000 students and is one of the universities with the highest percentage of students living on-campus.

The university has residence halls, suites, and apartments to provide students with quality on-campus residence experience. These come with all the necessary facilities and amenities. 

Rooms include a bed, dresser, closet, chair, desk. Most residence halls are co-ed. Apart from this, there is wifi, free laundry facilities available in each residence halls. 

Traditional housing includes Alumni, Hilltop, McMahon, Buckley, East Campus, West Campus, Towers, Northwest, North Campus, Shippee, Werth Tower. Suite-style housing includes busby suites, Garrigus suites, south campus. Apartments include hilltop, Northwood, Mansfield, charter oak. Greek-style housing includes Husky Village.

Students can also look for off-campus student housing to stay in the US to complete their higher education.

Admission Process

The School of Business at UConn offers admission to students on the basis of their academic excellence. As School of Business has slightly different requirements for international students, they are as follows:

Admission Requirements:

  • One must submit a completed common application with 80 USD as an application fee. One can easily do so by visiting the university's online application portal.
  • One needs to submit all the official transcripts for all secondary or post-secondary education.
  • Applicants whose native language is not English must provide proof for English proficiency to the authorities. This can be done by providing TOEFL or IELTS scores.
  • One needs to submit the official SAT or ACT scores.
  • One needs to submit a personal essay stating a reason for choosing the school of business at UConn. You can also include any other useful information which you feel can strengthen the essay.
  • One can be asked to submit an otherwise optional letter of recommendation for some specific programs.
  • For admission to graduate programs, one must submit GRE and GMAT test scores.
  • Graduate applicants must submit a Personal Statement of Purpose.
  • Applicants must provide a financial statement verifying resources to pay for a total one year expense in the united states.

School of Business, University of Connecticut International Student Admissions

School of Business, University of Connecticut does not consider a 3-year bachelor degree from India, Canada or Australia, for graduate admission. Applicants from these countries can only apply if they have a 4-year bachelor's degree.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Official transcripts, Diplomas, mark sheets, or courses and grades from institutions outside of the United States.
  • Transcripts in both English and the native language of the university are required.
  • An official copy of degree certificate or diploma.
  • Individual/yearly mark sheets
  • Satisfy the English proficiency requirement
  • For students in countries where the transcript does not indicate the degree received, an official degree diploma attested by a university official must also be submitted in the original language and accompanied by an English translation.
  • The Graduate School will accept Chinese transcripts that are verified by either CHESICC (China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center), or CDGDC (China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center).

Visa Process for International Students

International students should apply for the F-1 student visa as soon as possible, to complete the admission process. Required material must be submitted to International Students and Scholar Services (ISSS) office 1 month before the start of classes, to ensure proper I-20 processing.

The students should submit the following documents to the ISSS office:

  • Financial Declaration Form
  • Proof of Support
  • Copy of Passport

Because of the academic format, some of the graduate programs are unable to issue student visas, therefore the students are advised to apply only to those programs that can issue visas, which are:

  • Full-time MBA Program
  • MS in Business Analytics and Project Management
  • MS in Financial Risk Management

All international students are charged an additional Visa Compliance Fee 350 USD per semester (Fall and Spring only).

The admission is given on the basis of three parts of the application. A student’s academics are 60% of application, which includes the GPA, grade trends and more. The essay accounts for 30% of a student’s application. The remaining accounts for the current resume from applicants. Applications for all majors in the School of Business are accepted within the first two weeks of every Fall and Spring term.
