Panjab University (PU), also known as Panjab University Chandigarh (PUCHD), is a public research university located in Chandigarh, India. Established in 1882, it is one of the oldest universities in India and is known for its high standards of teaching and research. PU is ranked by several ranking agencies such as NIRF, Times Higher Education, and QS (Asia). Panjab University is ranked 60^th by the NIRF in the Overall University rankings category of its 2024 ranking. Punjab University offers more than 850 courses in 78 departments through its affiliated colleges at the UG, PG, and PhD levels. Some of the most popular courses offered by the Panjab University at the UG level are B.A., B.Sc, LLB, BPEd, and B.Tech along with fine arts, business & management, medical sciences, languages, etc. Admission to Pabjab University is based on the entrance examination conducted by the university such as PU CET UG, PUCET PG, PU MET, PU LAW followed by a personal interview. The university also accepts scores from national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main for admission to its B.Tech programs. Panjab University offers admissions to various courses at UG, PG and Doctoral level, which are done on the basis of merit, entrance tests and personal interviews.Most of Panjab University’s courses is entrance based. Candidates must qualify the university-conducted/national-level entrance before proceeding to the university-level selection for official admission. For admission to its UG, PG, and Doctoral level programs, the university administers roughly 10 entrance tests including the PU-MET, PU-CET (UG), PU-CET (PG), PU PGLAW, PUTHAT, PU UGLAW, PULEET, PU MPhil and PhD Entrance Test. The candidates who qualify the same are then called for the group discussion followed by the personal interview and counseling rounds for engineering aspirants respectively.

Candidates should keep in mind that they must complete and submit the Panjab University application form 2023 prior to the deadline. Panjab University has a campus of 550 acres in sectors 14 and 25 in Chandigarh with proper infrastructure and excellent facilities for the growth of the students. Panjab University offers several facilities to students, faculty as well as non-teaching staff which include –

The BCJ at Panjab University has a completely  contemporary curative laboratory and the most recent and fully digital and computerized radiological equipment.
• Sports Facilities: Panjab University has arrangements for outdoor as well as indoor sports including an international-level swimming pool, Athletic track, Gym, Volleyball courts, Cricket grounds, lawn tennis courts, netball grounds, Hockey and football grounds, etc.
• Library:  AC Joshi Library is the official Library of Panjab University and is a 5 storyed building equipped with computer and communication network houses with accommodation of 500 readers. The Library has subscribed to 312 current periodicals and has a collection of over 8 lac publications including books, reports, government documents, newspapers, and a prized collection of 1492 manuscripts.
• SC/ST cell: In addition to these basic facilities, Panjab University is one of the first  universities to start an SC/ST cell. The main objective of the SC/ST cell is to execute, assess and evaluate the reservation policy and to comply with the UGC regulations. The cell is also actively following various welfare policies and schemes for the SC/ST students, faculty as well as administration of the university.
• Equal Opportunity Cell -PWD: The main purpose of this cell being the correct implementation of the RPWD Act, 2016 in the Panjab University.
• Fests: Panjab University is known for the fests and events it organizes on a grand scale a few well-known ones being the Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage festival, Panjab University Annual Festival-Jhankaar.
