Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Open University is a government open university for distance education in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Established in 1982, BRAOU is approved by the UGC and accredited with a ‘B++’ grade by the NAAC. BRAOU operates through a network of 179 Study Centres, including 23 Regional Coordination Centres (RCCs), spread over the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

BRAOU offers various UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, and Research programs through the Faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Sciences, and Social Sciences with an annual enrolment of over 1 Lakh students. All the programs are recognized by UGC and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB). Admissions at BRAOU for all UG and PG programs (except MBA) are based on merit (marks secured in the qualifying examination). MBA admissions are based on scores obtained in the TS/AP ICET or BRAOUMBA Entrance Test (BRAOUMBAET).

BRAOU admissions are conducted twice year, i.e. January and July Sessions. Admissions for all UG. PG (except MBA and B.Ed), Diploma, and Certificate programs are based on marks secured in the qualifying examination. MBA admissions are based on scores obtained in the TS/AP ICET or BRAOUMBA Entrance Test (BRAOUMBAET). The university also conducts an entrance test for admission to B.Ed and PhD programs.
