Barkatullah University, formerly known as Bhopal University, was renamed Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya in 1988 to honor the renowned independence warrior Professor Barkatullah, a native of Bhopal. The university was accreditated "B” grade by NAAC. The university offers courses in the faculties of the arts, social sciences, sciences, life sciences, engineering, law, commerce, education, physical education, technology, home science, and management through its affiliated colleges and university teaching departments. About 400 acres of land make up the Barkatullah University campus, Located along the Hoshangabad Highway about 3 kilometers from Habibganj Railway Station. University covers almost the full spectrum of higher education, offering courses in its affiliated Colleges and University Teaching Departments in the faculties of Arts, Social Science, Science, Life Science, Engineering, Law, Commerce, Education, Physical Education, Technology, Home Science, and Management. The territorial jurisdiction of the university extends to eight districts namely Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Harda, Betul, and Rajgarh. The campus of Barkatullah University has facilities like –

• National Service Scheme (NSS) – The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India sponsors the N S S. The volunteers of NSS undertake activities like tree plantation, literacy drive, health care, immunization, maintaining NSS book banks, etc.
• Health center – Barkatullah University health care provides health checkups – and medicines to their students.
• Library – Barkatullah University has a library comprising almost 75 K books, 3000 research magazines, 15 daily newspapers, 12 weeklies, and many more.
• University Press – With the financial assistance of the State government and U G C, the university press was established in 1981.

Barkatullah University Scholarship

Barkatullah University offers scholarships to students belonging to weak economic backgrounds and having strong academic records in the qualifying examination. Some of the Barkatullah University Scholarship are listed as follows:

Meri Cum Mean Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students who received at least 90% in PCM or 80% in Arts or Commerce in their 12th-grade exams from the appropriate boards (CBSE, ISC, State Boards). To avail this scholarship, students are advised to visit the University physically and get all the further information regarding the scholarship, they may then fill out the scholarship form and submit it at the University office.

Sports Scholarship

Students who have competed in athletic competitions and taken home a medal or two at the national or international level are eligible for this award.
