BM Ruia Girls College

B. M. Ruia Girls’ College is a premier institute of higher education in Mumbai. The college offers UG courses in Arts and Commerce. Other than this, Distance learning UG and PG courses run in the partnership with IGNOU, and in addition to this, a number of career oriented vocational programs are also offered to the students.

The college gives their students the facility to take part in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Students are fully encouraged and helped in different aspects to participate in different competitions in academics, sports, events and other competitions.

For the all-round development of the students, the college is working tirelessly to make a diversified calendar of events each year that allows every student to take participate in the scheduled event.

With the growing demand and popularity, the strength of students also raised numerically and as the number of students multiplied, the campus became insufficient to hold the number of students. For this reason in the year 1968 the College shifted to the present location, Krishna Kunj, Vachha Gandhi Road, Mumbai and the small building of the College soon grew 5 storey tall.

The College started Higher Secondary classes for Arts and Commerce to cater the students other than the degree courses. The college got its affiliation from SNDT University in June 1979. The college further introduced number of vocational courses in Commerce with the financial support of U.G.C. in June 1998.

Facilities:

Library:

Book Bank: Book bank facility is available in the library and the students can borrow text books for the whole academic year by paying a nominal security deposit fee of Rs.5/- per book. The books issued must be returned one week before the commencement of the final exam.

Auditorium :
The College has an air-conditioned auditorium with a capacity of 250 people. It is well equipped with audio-video facilities including LCD Projector.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

N.C.C.

Students are encouraged to participate in N.C.C and be a part in volunteering the society and serve the nation. Activities like Training Camps, Rifle Shooting, First-Aid Training, Rope climbing etc. are conducted by the cadets.

 N.S.S.

The main objective of N.S.S program in the campus is to make students aware of various problems from which our society are suffering from. The program encourages the members to work as a team so as to fulfill their duties faithfully, truthfully and honestly. It conducts various programs like special camps, street plays, AIDS awareness, fund collection, pulse polio etc.

College Magazine:

The college magazine is published with the annual data of the college reflecting the achievements, progress and activities of various departments articles on various topics in all the four languages i.e. English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati. Students are encouraged to contribute articles to the magazine.

Cultural Programs:

Cultural programs are the best way identify the hidden talent among the students. Thus taking this in consideration, the college organizes a Talent Search in the beginning of each year. The selected students are thus trained to participate in various intra / inter events and competitions.
 

Prizes And Scholarships:

The university gives special prizes to the students for different examinations. Other than this, those student who secures highest marks in Hindi in B.A. exam in the university, an special award is given to them. Students securing highest marks in Sociology, Economics and English literature are also awarded by the college. Also, Scholarships are given to the meritorious students.
