About Government Polytechnic

Government Polytechnic Rohru at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh was started first with diploma in Electronics & Communication. Then, in the year 1992, diploma in pharmacy was started. The Institute is approved by AICTE for diploma in engineering courses and for diploma in pharmacy, it is approved by PCI. The institute is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board. The academy system for these two courses differs: Electronics and communication engineering has semester system, while the pharmacy has annual system. For the admission, a nominal fee of INR 10,179/- is fixed by the state government.

Government Polytechnic Rohru Courses

The institute is currently offering two courses. Two courses have different admission criteria and procedure because the courses have been approved to different Govt. institutes. Both have different departments and available with needed facilities. To get admission into Diploma in Pharmacy candidates has to get 10+2 PCM or PCB Score on Merit Basis.

Detailed Eligibility

The different eligibilities for the courses here are detailed below.

For Diploma in Electronics and Communication (PAT score), candidates must have passed 10th standard with 35% marks at the qualifying examination from a recognized board / university / institute.
For Diploma in Electronics and Communication (LEET score), candidates must have passed 12th standard examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics/Biology (Botany and Zoology) or 12th Science (with Mathematics as one of the subjects) or 12th Science with Vocational or 12th Science with Technical or 10th + 2 years ITI under NCVT/SCVT/COE in engineering stream shall be eligible for admission to Second year diploma course of appropriate programme as per AICTE Norms.
For Diploma in Pharmacy, the minimum eligibility qualification / criteria for admission are to passed in any of the following examination on merit marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics/Biology.
- Intermediate examination in Science.
- The first year of the three-year degree course in Science.
- 10+2 examination (academic stream) in Science.
- Pre - degree examination.
- (i) vocational Higher Secondary Education of Kerala front 1994-95 with Group A&B only with following subjects:

Group	with non-vocational subject
Group A	NCERT syllabus in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
Group B	NCERT syllabus in Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

Higher Secondary examination (11th standard) conducted up to 1989 by Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, Ajmer.
Intermediate examination with physics, chemistry, botany and Zoology.
12 years Higher secondary, part -II examination (science academic stream) of Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education.
Second Secondary Examination of the Ministry of Education, State of Kuwait with 10+2 in science of India.
12 years Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate of Ministry of Education, Ethiopia with 10+2 in science of India.
8+4 of Kenya certificate of secondary Education issued by Kenyan National Examination Council with 10+2 in Science of India.

Government Polytechnic Rohru Admission

Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering has two kind of entrance examination system. One is PAT and other one is LEET, both of them are conducted by HPTSB Dharamshala. For diploma in pharmacy course, the admission is done based on meritorious ranking.
