Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, formerly known as Guru Ghasidas University (GGU) is a central university located in the Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh. Established in 1983, GGU is one of the Chhattisgarh's largest and oldest institutions of higher education. GGU offers UG, PG, PhD, Diploma, and Certificate programs in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Management, and many more. 

GGU is well known for its flagship programs such as BTech, MTech, and MBA. Admissions to most of the UG and PG programs at GGU are done through Common University Entrance Test (CUET), conducted by the NTA. For BTech and MTech admissions, the university accepts JEE Main and GATE scores respectively. 

GGU is a residential Institution and the campus is spread over 700 acres of land, five kilometres from the main Bilaspur town. The campus is equipped with the amenities like a Library, Hostels, Cafeteria, Bank, Sports, Health Care etc. Offering on-campuus placements to its students, GGU placement rate is around 70-80% every year. The 2023 GGU placement drives concluded with the highest median salary of INR 4 LPA.

GGU Admissions 

The admissions to GGU Bilaspur are based on an applicant’s CUET, UG and PG marks. The government university offers more than 200 courses in its 32 departments. Moreover, the courses range from disciplines like life sciences, pharmacy, humanities, law courses, management and more. Additionally, GGU provides numerous PHD or doctoral programmes as well. The admissions to the PhD programmes are based on the Vishwavidyalaya Research Entrance Test (VRET). Applicants first have to appear for the respective entrance tests, then wait for the merit lists. Candidates selected in the the merit list are offered admission after receiving the fee payment.

GGU Results

Examinations in GGU are conducted in the months of May-June and November - December every year. Enrolled students can check GGU results on the official website by following the below given steps:

• Visit the official website of GGU (new.ggu.ac.in)/ 
• Once the student, scroll down on the official website to the notice board notifications.
• Students will be able to see the results tab with the annual and semester results for all the announced courses.
• The student can download the PDF of their desired courses from the results tab itself.

GGU offers satisfactory placement opportunities to its students. The highest median package in the university reached INR 4 LPA. Moreover, up to 290 students were placed in the 2023 GGU placement drive. The GGU placement cell offers reputable companies and interview training to students. GGU Scholarships

GGU scholarships are offered to numerous meritorious and needy students. GGU also takes care of the disabled student population by providing an umbrella scholarship scheme for students with disabilities. This scheme is given by the Department of empowerment of persons with disability, however, students enrolled in GGU or fully eligible to apply under this scholarship. GGU Campus And Facilities

GGU Bilaspur has a huge campus of 655 acres of land with various amenities for its students. The university has facilities like a health care unit, Central Library, hostel facility, Bus services, a well functioning cafeteria and more for its students. GGU also has staff quarters for its teachers, bank or ATM on campus. All facilities are as follows:

• Hostel: GGU Bilaspur has three boys hostel, and three girls hostel, to provide well furnished accommodation for its students. • Computer Center: Established in 1990 computer Centre gives in advance boost to the university. It has more than 50 computers with her well functioning, high-speed broadband connectivity. Students can visit the computer centre whenever they wish to use the facility. 
• Health Centre: To look after the health of the students, employees and non-teaching staff, GGU as a medical officer with assisting staff posted at the University. It provides 24 seven ambulance services, and 24 hours doctor on call facility for everyone. 
• Bus Service: GGU provide best facilities between campus and Nehru Chowk for employees and students of the university. 
• Cafeteria: GGU has a well functioning cafeteria for its students and hostellers too. 
• Bank / ATM / Post Office Facility: GGU has Punjab, national bank and Punjab national Bank ATM facility for the students. Moreover, it also has a post office on campus.
