About Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies - [KUFOS]

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) is the first university dedicated to the studies in fisheries and allied disciplines. It was established by the government of Kerala in 2010. It is an autonomous and public-funded institution with headquarters at Panangad, Kochi. The University offers UG, PG, and Doctoral programmes in Fisheries Science. It also offers PG Diploma in Aquarium Science and Technology and Diploma in Brackish water and Marine Aquaculture. The selection criteria for various courses are based on the results of the entrance exam conducted each year.

Duration: 2 Years Eligibility: Pass in Bachelor degree in Fisheries Science recognised with certain predefined OGPA from any of the recognised institution.
M.Sc.	Subjects: Physical Oceanography, Marine Biology, Food Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, Remote Sensing and GIS, Disaster Management, Biotechnology, Climate Science, Marine Microbiology, Marine Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Statics Duration- 2 Years Eligibility: B.Sc. with at least 50% marks in Physics as main along with Mathematics and Chemistry/Statistics/ Computer Science/Computer Application/Electronics/Geography as subsidiaries from any of the recognised institution.
MBA	Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Rural Management and Fisheries Business Management, and Energy Management. Duration: 2 Years Eligibility: Any bachelor Graduates from Indian/Foreign University recognised with a minimum marks 50% marks.
MTech	Subjects: Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Ocean and Coastal Safety Engineering, and Coastal and Harbour Engineering, Duration: 2 Years Eligibility: BTech/B.E. Degree in Coastal Zone Management/Civil Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Marine Engineering with at least 50% marks from any of the recognised institution.
LLM	Subject: Maritime Law Duration: 2 Years Eligibility: Candidates who have passed LLB degree examination from a recognised board with at least 50% marks from any of the recognised institution.

KUFOS Panangad Admission

The candidates who wish to take admission here must fill the application form in the prescribed format. The Entrance examination for various courses are conducted by the University itself. However, it also considers various other entrance examinations to grant admission in UG and PG courses like KEAM, NEET-UG, CAT, and CMAT, etc. Students can apply for 5 programmes at a time and if they wish to apply for further more courses they’ll have to pay additional fees.

Applicants can apply to all courses online.

Application Procedure:

Visit the official website of the university and click on Admission Option under Admission Tab.
A new tab will open and now you need to register yourself by creating a user ID and password.
After registering yourself, login to your account using the same user id and password.
After you logging in, fill the application form appropriately with correct information and save them simultaneously.
Now you need to select your preferred courses and choose your category wherever applicable and upload supporting documents.
Last but not least submit your application form by making the required payments.
Now take a print out of application form for future references.

A placement cell of University ensures maximum number of placements to UG and PG. Alumni of the university are working with various international and national academic research and industrial organizations.

It holds the record of producing the maximum number of Agricultural Research Scientists for the nation. A good number of officers in the Central and State Fisheries Department are alumni of the university. It produced a large number of entrepreneurs, professionals, and scientists in the field of Food Technology, Oceanography, Management, Maritime Law, Fish Processing, Aquaculture, Hatchery, and Ornamental Fish sector.

Facilities and amenities available here are:

Library- The library is well equipped with modern gadgets. There are over 19000 books, out of which 2000 are reference books and 17000 are textbooks on fisheries and allied subjects.

Museum- Museum for fishes, crustaceans, molluscs, aquatic plants and parasites fishes maintained by the university and it has a public aquarium of fresh water.

Swimming Pool- There is a wide spread swimming pool in the campus of the University which has a capacity of four and a half lakh litres of water.

Hostel- University provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls in the campus. Hostel is fully equipped with the amenities that are required for a healthy stay. The boys hostel has a capacity of 60 students and has 2 guest rooms. Girls hostel has the capacity to accommodate 133 students.

Computer Facilities- University has a well-furnished computer lab funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The lab is fully equipped with computers and all computers are connected via Local Area Network (LAN).
