The post graduate Government College, Sector 11, Chandigarh was established in 1953. It was shifted to its present campus in 1960. The college is affiliated to Panjab University for graduate and postgraduate courses. Information Technology Programme (C-TOSS) has also been started for imparting I.T. Education in collaboration with SPIC, Chandigarh and I.T.

- The college building which was originally designed by E Maxwell Fry to accommodate 700 students now has more than 3272 students with additions in infrastructure.
