About School of Planning and Architecture - [SPAV]
School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, was first established on the 7th of July 2008, and ten years later, it shifted its activities to a permanent campus. Also known as SPAV, it obtained the 18th position and 3rd position among the top architectural colleges in India by NIRF and India Today respectively.
Sprawled across an area of 9.66 acres, the institution offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programs in Architecture and Planning. The admission procedure is based on merit in the previous qualifying examinations and entrance tests. In addition, written tests, viva voce, as well as personal interviews are also conducted. The application forms are available to print on the official website. Once filled in, it needs to be delivered to the college authorities via post or courier.

School of Planning and Architecture Vijayawada Scholarship
School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, awards scholarships for Under-graduate and Post -graduate students in Architecture and Planning under following categories:
- GATE/NET Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to the P.G students of M.Plan and M.Arch programmes based on valid GATE/NET score secured by them as per Government of India norms. Under this scheme, eligible GATE/NET qualified students will get a scholarship of INR 8000 per month per student.
- Merit Scheme: The scholarship for the first year will be awarded based on performance in the first semester examination. This will be applicable for whole of first year and the amount of scholarship will be payable from the date of admission to the programme. For the second year, the selection of candidates for scholarship will be done on the basis of the result of the first year i.e. cumulative performance of first and second semesters. The candidates who have appeared in the GATE/NET examinations and received scores in order of merit will be eligible to apply for Scholarship under this scheme.
- Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme particulars for PG students: This scholarship is offered to students with Gross Annual family income of not more than INR 3 Lakhs. This scholarship is also available for students who have appeared in the GATE/NET examinations. Under this scholarship, for the whole of first year the award will be based on 1st semester examination. For 2nd year, selection of candidates is based on the result of the first year.
- Central Government Scholarships
- Top Class Education to SC students(by Min.of Social Justice,GoI): This scholarship is offered to SC students for Books & Stationary / Computer / Laptop. To avail this scholarship, their is a parental income limit of INR 4.5 lakhs per annum. Under this scheme 10 scholarships are released for SPA Vijayawada students.
- Top Class Education to ST students(by Min.of Tribal Welfare,GoI): This scholarship is offered to ST students for Books & Stationary / Computer / Laptop. To avail this scholarship, their is a parental income limit of INR 4.5 lakhs per annum. Under this scheme 10 scholarships are released for SPA Vijayawada students.

- Central Library: SPAV has a library that comprises over 6000 books, eBooks, and journals, and more than 4000 online resources.

- Computer Lab: With over 60 high-end workstations, the computer lab at SPAV houses the latest software.

- Guest House: SPAV provides a guest house for its alumni, parents, or guardians of the students, and industry experts.
- Hostel: SPAV provides separate hostels for boys and girls. While the capacity of the former is about 400, the latter can accommodate about 200 students.

Ques. Are there hostel facilities in the institution?
Ans. Yes. SPAV provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. While the former has a capacity of around 400, the latter can accommodate about 200 students.
Ques. What is the duration of the undergraduate programs?
Ans. The undergraduate program under Architecture is a course of 5 years and has 10 semesters. The Bachelor of Planning program is a course of 4 years with 8 semesters.
Ques. What is the eligibility criterion for the Ph.D. programs?
Ans. In order to be eligible for the Ph.D. programs in SPAV, the candidate must pass the M Arch/ M Tech examinations with a CGPA of at least 6.5 or 60% in aggregate, for Open/ OBC candidates. The score obtained should be at least 6.0 CGPA or 55% in aggregate for SC/ ST students. In addition, the selection criteria include the score and subsequent rank obtained in GATE/ CSIR NET/ UGC NET/ ICMR/ JRF, written test, and viva voce.

Ans. SPAV does not have its own scholarship facilities. However, students are eligible for the scholarship programs organized by the state and central governments.
