About Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology - [TPGIT]

The Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology is a government engineering institution located at Bagayam, Vellore. It was established in July 1990 and is governed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to Anna University.

At present, the institute offers undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level programs in BE, ME and MCA. Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology also offers part time BE and ME courses and full time Ph.D program in selected disciplines.

Seats are allocated on the basis of performance in the relevant entrance examination for undergraduate and postgraduate courses (TNEA / TANCET).

Admission to B.E programme is done on the basis of TNEA counselling , which is conducted by Anna University for admissions to various institutes situated in Tamil Nadu
Admission to M.E and MCA programme is done on the basis of TANCET counselling, organized by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Government.

For TNEA and TANCET Registration:

Candidates must first register on the official examination/ counselling website, following which a login ID will be generated.
The form should be duly filled-in with all personal and academic details
Candidates can pay the application fee of INR 500 (INR 250 for reserved categories) via online banking / debit or credit card payment, following which they will be given a registration number.

TPGIT Placements

With a view to making the students come into contact with their prospective employers, a placement and training cell functions in the institute. Campus interviews are arranged periodically for the benefits of final year students. It also arranges for industrial visits and in-plant training for the pre-final year students during summer/winter vacation.

The Placement cell has been bringing placements to the college for the past six years and a number of students from all the streams have been placed in companies with impressive salaries.

TPGIT Facilities

Library - The College has a well-stocked library with Books, Video courses and CDs pertaining to various disciplines. Apart from engineering texts and books of technical importance, a number of books of general value and interest are available. It has a wide collection of over 27,873 volumes. The students are updated with the latest information with the help of the numerous national and international journals subscribed by the library. SC/ST students are benefited by the functioning of a book bank.

Hostels – The campus has both Boys and Girls Hostel. Boy’s hostel has 70 rooms with a total strength of 320 and the Girls hostel has 57 rooms in old hostel and 38 rooms in new hostel with a total strength of 240. The total amount of Hostel fees is INR 6150/- .You may check the fee details here.

Sports and Gym – It offers a wide range of sports activities both indoors and outdoors with the availability of all the required sports equipment. The college also has a Gym which is equipped with various machines such that it is brought up to the standards of a Private Gym.

Canteen - The College is providing canteen facility to the students as well as teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, it is capable of catering the demands of the students. Generally, the college provides it to any individual on contract basis after proper official’s formalities. It is located at the centre place of college campus. It provides hygienic and economical varieties of food. Breakfast, lunch is sold at reasonable prices. Other snacks, soft drinks are also available here.

Ques. How to reach the campus?

Ans. The college is well connected to both local railway station and bus stand. Bus route is from Katpadi to Bagayam. You can get down at either female jail stops or TPGIT polytechnic college stop.

Ques. Is there any Entrance exam for TNEA?

Ans. No, there is no entrance examination for TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions). The selection is based on the merit list prepared from class XII board exams result. The person scoring well goes on the top of the list while as the marks decrease, so is their position on the list.

Ques. When will TNEA 2020 be released?

Ans. TNEA 2020 is a counselling process and not an examination. It does not release any result. However, TNEA 2020 creates a merit list based on the score achieved by the candidates in board exams. It will be released in the fourth week of June 2020. Candidates will be called for counselling process as per their rank in the merit list.

Ques. If a candidate has a bachelor’s degree through cloud campus or distance learning, is he eligible to apply for TANCET?

Ans. No, a candidate must have a Full-Time Bachelors’ degree from a recognised university fulfilling the basic eligibility criteria to apply. Any other mode of acquiring the degree is not eligible.
