About SIVET College

South Indian Vaniar Educational Trust college is a general degree college that offers Arts, Science, and Commerce courses. It is situated in the Velachery Main Road Tambaram near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The college was founded in the year of 1966 due to the initiative taken by Honourable Justice Mr. S.A. Ayyasami Chettiar through establishing a charitable trust in the year 1960. Then Tamil Nadu government allocated a site for the trust of area 27.47 acres at a minimal cost and the college was established at Gowrivakkam in July 1966. The college is affiliated to the University of Madras. In 1992-93, the SIVET college started its own self-financing streams as II shift, in a separate wing with B.Sc. computer science being the first course in it. The college had secured B++ grade in the NAAC accreditation.

SIVET College Chennai Admission 2024

South Indian Vaniar Educational Trust college offers 8 UG courses and 2 PG courses under aided stream that comes under the official affiliation of the University of Madras. It also offers an additional 10 UG courses and 2 PG courses as self-finance streams. Students can apply online by visiting the student portal of the SIVET college. SIVET College Chennai Placement 2023

The placement cell of South Indian Vaniar Educational Trust college had been giving full-fledged training to the students in order to get them placed in a good organization. It provides assistance to both UG as well as PG students. Many organizations like HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Sysmedac Technologies, and Times of India visits the campus drives that are conducted in the SIVET college regularly and hire the students. Students are given training for clearing TNPSC, SSC, CGL exams and are provided the foundation with the UPSC exams as well.

Moreover, many certification courses are also imparted so as the students gain job-related knowledge in their respective fields. Courses like TALLY ERP 9 with GST & Payroll, Digital Marketing, medical coding, Cyber Security & Ethical Hacking, Python and Web Designing, Logistics.

There are no scholarships provided by the institution or even private scholarships. But the scholarships provided by the government are being supported. Hostel: Girls hostel is available within the college campus at an affordable price.
Laboratory: Different laboratories like Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Computer, and Bio-Chemistry laboratories are present which improves the practical knowledge of the students.
Library: The library has a collection of 47,000 books, 24 national journals, 78 magazines, 112 back volumes of journals, 276 competitive exam books, 240 book banks, 155 CDs / DVDs, 77 AV resources, 31 audio cassettes, and 7 national dailies. It is being operational since the establishment of the college and now has been digitalized to a modern digital library.
Separate Grounds: 200 m athletic track and separate grounds for the outdoor games like Cricket, Football, and Handball are present.
Indoor Stadium: An indoor stadium is present for conducting various indoor games. It has all necessary things like 3 courts for Badminton, 6 separate Table Tennis tables, separate rooms for chess and carrom, a modern gym with 6 stations for Weight Training, Weight Lifting, Power Lifting, and Body Building.

Ans. No, admission of the SIVET college is purely merit-based one and hence entrance exam is not needed. One can just fill the application form along with his/ her 10th and 12th marksheet and wait for the reply.
