IISER Kolkata is ranked 43^rd in Overall Category and 40 in Research Category by NIRF 2022. IISER Kolkata is an autonomous research and education institute in Nadia district of West Bengal. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The institute was established with an aim towards excellence in research in basic science at the undergraduate and graduate level with equal emphasis on higher education. The institute follows a bi-semester system, which includes a spring (Jan-May) and autumn (Aug-Dec) semester for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science. IISER Kolkata Admission is done through Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) and JEE.

Course 1: BS-MS Dual Degree Program

Duration: 5-year
Eligibility: Intermediate graduate
Offered Majors: Biological, Chemical, Geological, Mathematical and Physical Sciences

Course Fee: INR 46,250 and INR 18,750 for SC/ST/PwD/KM students

Course 2: MS in Space Physics

Duration: 2-year
Eligibility: Graduate in B.E/B.Tech (OR) valid score in either GATE or JEST

Course Fee: INR 46,250 for General and INR 18,750 for SC/ST/PwD/KM students

Selection Criteria: Candidates will be short-listed on the basis of their qualifications and will be called for an interview. Final selection is based on the performance in the interview, academic background of the candidate and any other criterion determined by the selection committee.

Course 3: Integrated Ph.D 

Eligibility:  B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.B.B.S. or an equivalent degree
Offered Majors: Biological, Chemical, Geological, Mathematical and Physical Sciences

Course Fee: INR 35,250 for General and INR 18,750 for SC/ST/PwD/KM students

Course 4: Doctor of Philosophy 

Eligibility: Masters degree

Course 5: Post Doctoral Research

IISER Kolkata Cutoff 2023

IISER Kolkata Cutoff 2023 for the Fifth Round of Counselling has been released. The cutoff for Admissions to 5-year BS-MS programs at IISER Kolkata is based on the scores of the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). IISER Kolkata cutoff is the minimum score required to be admitted to the institute. The category-wise cutoff for Round 5 of the allocation and previous allocation rounds are tabulated as follows.

IISER Kolkata Facilities

• Hostel: 400 seater hostel for both girls and boys, with hostel warden on duty 24/7.
• Computer labs: For the course students and research scholars, the section manages a Computer center which has about 50 desktops and some of which are connected to form a small experimental cluster named Meghnad.

• Laboratories: IISER-K boasts of world-class equipment both for the teaching and the research laboratories
• Medical facilities: At least 20 doctors are assigned to the medical department of the university, which is believed in for the welfare of students as well as the staff members.
