About Raiganj University

Raiganj University is the first Unitary University in North Bengal offering both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in its own Campus.Established in 2015, the campus is over 13.62 acres of land and has 22 departments at the undergraduate level, 23 departments in postgraduate level and 17 departments offering Ph.D. & M.Phil. The university was established under West Bengal Act XXVI of 2014 and is located at the district headquarter of Uttar Dinajpur that is Raiganj in West Bengal. The admission is offered on the basis of merit, entrance test, counselling and personal interview.

Raiganj University Placement

The university has set up a Business Incubation and Innovation Centre (BIIC) to help students to take a step forward towards the corporate world. The university organizes training programmes, seminars and workshops for the students to enhance their skills and get an insight of the corporate culture. The centre lso aims at creating job makers rather than job seekers and motivates the students for the same. The university also serves as a guiding light for the students who want to pursue higher studies.The median salary of the graduates placed in the academic year 2018-19 was INR 540000 and 39 students were also selected for higher studies.

Raiganj University Facilities

Campus: The Campus is spread over 25.14 Acres of land, containing Departments, Administrative Buildings, Guest-house, Pond, Canteen, Playground, a Garden of rare medicinal plants and a mulberry garden.
Hostel: The university has two hostels. The boys hostel has 66 seats and the women hostel has 68 seats. The university also has one guest house. There are also a number of amenities centres like a common girl’s room and two boy’s common room.
Library: The library has over 62855 books, 50 journals and approximately 3000 International journals with subscription to 7 daily leading newspapers.The Central Library is equipped with 100 mbps ILL from BSNL and also a seating capacity of 88 students at a time.
Canteen: The canteen is one of the hubs where students are found at all hours, enjoying the food and interacting with each other. The canteen provides healthy snacks and meals for the students.
Computer Lab: The university has a computer lab with about 205 total computers in the university and an Internet Bandwidth of 20 Mbps.
Classrooms: The university has well airy classrooms with comfortable seating arrangements for the students to focus and study. The university also has 23 smart classrooms.
Centres: The university has Business Incubation and Innovation Centre, Environment Conservation Centre, Centre for Folklore Studies, the centre for Differently Abled Students, the Centre for Buddhist Studies, the Centre for Women’s Studies, Centre for Film and Media Studies, centre for Nanotechnology Sciences, Centre for Applied Biological Sciences, etc.
Games and Sports: The university organizes both indoor and outdoor games frequently. Some of the games organised are Chess, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Cricket, Tennis, Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Ball Badminton, Athletics, Weight & Powerlifting, Yoga, etc.The university encourages students to take part in games at both national and international level.

Raiganj University Faculty

The university has a faculty of around 110 faculty members with specialization in their relative subject.The faculty members continuously engage in conferences, workshops, seminars and attend refresher and orientation courses to upskill themselves. There are 90 permanent members out of whom 58 have Ph.D. and 11 have M. Phil. Degrees. There are 3 Visiting Professors, 15 adhoc/contractual and around 85 regular teachers. The university also appoints Guest Teachers and Part Time teachers time to time for the development of the students.
