About Kumaun University - [KU]

Kumaun University is a state university established in 1973 spread over an area of 160 acres. The University has three campuses. These campuses are D.S.B. Campus, Nainital, SSJ Campus, Almora, and Campus at Bhimtal. More than 65 affiliated colleges to Kumaun University including 49 government colleges.

It offers UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses in various subjects and offers many other courses. Out of the total of 336 courses, BA, B.Sc., LLB, B.Pharma, B.Ed, LLM, MA, M.Sc., MBA, MCA, M.Pharma, and Ph.D. are some popular courses.

Kumaun University Admissions

Admission to all UG courses except B.Ed and LLB is done based on the merit of the 10+2 examination. Admission to B.Ed and LLB is based on Kumaun University Entrance Examination.

Admission to all PG courses is based on the merit of a Bachelor's degree. The bachelor's degree must be from a recognized university. Admission to M.Ed and MBA is done through the Kumaun University Entrance Exam. MBA selection is done on the basis of entrance exam or through merit.

For admission to Ph.D. courses, the candidate must have a Master's degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate from a recognized university. Selection is done by the Research Degree Entrance Test (RDET).

The University offers the Sahu Jain Trust Scholarship to the meritorious students. It is merit-based and given to the students in need. The scholarship ranges between INR 2,500 to INR 25,000 yearly.

Hostel: The university has separate girls and boys hostels with good infrastructure. There are outdoor and indoor games under sports facilities. The hostels have a power generator for a 24*7 electricity supply. The hostel is well maintained giving a comfortable atmosphere to students.
Library: The central library of the university is a hub of books and periodicals. The students and research scholars are benefitted from the subscribed national and international research journal articles. The library has an internet facility. Presently there are many services, current news, and research articles provided by the library for the research scholar.
Medical Facility: The University campus has first aid services. The university has tie-ups with district hospitals to provide immediate medical attention. There is also the facility of an ambulance van for taking the sick students to the hospital.
