About Sonapur College

Sonapur College situated in the Kamrup (Metro) District of Assam was established in the year 1991. The college is known for providing unique and skilled based courses to the students. Some of the unique courses include Bachelor’s in Theatre & Stagecraft, Bachelor’s in Automotive Operations, Bachelors in Retail Management, etc. Being one of the premier institutions of the district, the college is being ranked at 109 positions by India Today. Sonapur College Admissions

Admission to its courses is completely based on merit. A candidate needs to fill up the online application form with all the details. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their marks in their last qualifying examination.

Sonapur College Scholarships

The college provides various scholarship and free studentship opportunities to meritorious and deserving students. Given below are some of the opportunities which can be availed by the candidates:

Free Studentship: Offered to the students belonging to the Economically Weaker Section of the society (whose family income is less than INR 1 lakh). In order to avail this opportunity students’, need to submit an authentic certificate of the annual income of their parents.

Academic Support: Academic support is provided by various departments to the students securing more than 80% in their 10+2 examination and enroll themselves in the concerned departments of the college.

Best Graduate Award: This award is provided to the student securing the highest CGPA at the end of the 3 years degree course.

Sonapur College Facilities

Library: The college has a well-equipped library with a wide variety of books, newspapers, periodicals, journals, etc. The library has also been digitized to make it easily accessible for the students. Each student is issued two library cards for one academic session, which means they can borrow two books at a time. The library also contains previous years’ question papers which helps the students in their preparation.

Hostel Facility: Sonapur college has two girls’ hostels with limited capacity and a mess facility. It provides comfortable accommodation for girls’ students. The selection is done on the basis of merit and the distance they need to cover to the college.

Indoor Stadium: The college has an indoor stadium for indoor sports such as Table Tennis, Chess, etc. to encourage the students in sports.

Canteen: The college has a canteen which caters to the hunger of the students and the staff members with healthy and delicious foods.

GIS Laboratory: The college has a well-equipped GIS Laboratory in the Department of Geography with the latest technologies. The college has purchased the licensed version of ArcGIS software.
