Tamil University Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), a new era at Tamil University was established in the year 2005. The Directorate offers 29 Graduate and Postgraduate courses to the candidates. These courses are spread across the Science, Commerce and Arts domains. The courses include B.Ed., M.A., M.Com. MBA, M.Sc., Diploma and PG Diploma. Admissions to all these courses is strictly on the basis of merit of the qualifying examinations. Health Centre/Gymnasium: The University Health Centre/Gymnasium is functioning in the Karikalan Arangam. The gymnasium has is well equipped. For the benefit of students and staff, many medical camps are conducted. They include blood donation camps, eye camps, and AIDS awareness programs.
Hostels: The Tamil University has both men and women hostels. These hostels are well furnished with basic and modem facilities.
Student Grievance Cell: To look into the grievances of the students and research scholars a cell has been formed. This Cell will look after their grievances and find remedial measures.
Women Harassment Redressal Cell: To take a proper look into the grievances of gender discrimination, a Women Harassment Redressal Cell is functioning. The cell conducts a periodical review of various issues relating to this.
Tamil University Newsletter: The Tamil University brings out a monthly newsletter called Tamil Palkalaikkalaka Ceithi Malar in Tamil. The magazine brings out the various developmental activities of the University, the seminars/ symposia/workshop held and other day-to-day activities connected with research and studies.

In every year, Department-wise First Three Rank Holders are awarded with special scholarships from the interest amount earned from the Great Poet Bharathiyar and A.T.Panneer Selvam Endowment.
