Chhattisgarh Institute Of Medical Science (CIMS) Bilaspur was established by the government of Chhattisgarh in 2001. The most popular program of the college is the undergraduate course MBBS. The admission is based on NEET UG scores followed by counselling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Raipur. The college also offers an MD program and accepts NEET PG score for admission followed by counselling conducted by Ayush and Health Science University of Chhattisgarh. The application mode is online.

- There are a total of 180 seats which are distributed in three categories such as 15% of seats allocated based on NEET-UG, 3% for central government nominees and the rest 82% are allotted to state candidates based on NEET UG scores.
- It has a massive campus spread over 25-acre land encompassing classes, dissection hall, demonstration hall, seminar hall, central library, operation theatre, research lab, medical ward, laboratory, auditorium, sports area.
- It has Wifi, student lockers, an assessment card and medical facility, mannequins for CPR, central line insertion and intubation.
- It has an anatomy department museum according to the guidelines of MCI. The museum is set up to study in the field of neuroanatomy, radiology, enterology, anthropology and much more
- Institute has a 1-year mandatory internship. Candidates receive stipends of INR 12000 to 14000. The passing percentage of students in the institute is 80 to 90% and few students have received the honour in biochemistry.
- Nearly 400000 biochemical investigations are carried out and various students are deputed to perform various researches under faculty members.
