About Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University - [BRAU]
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam has been established by Andhra Pradesh State Government G.O vide MS No: 89 Higher Education (UE.II) Department dated 25/06/2008, with a view to augment the education facilities in the Srikakulam District and to cater to the educational needs of the people of the district.
A policy of extending higher education facilities to the backward regions of Srikakulam District, Andhra University, with U.G.C. Support, came forward to institute two disciplines viz. Economics and Rural Development at Post Graduate level in 1977-1978 at Srikakulam in the name and style of Andhra University Post Graduate Extension Centre, later as Andhra University Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Post Graduate Centre, still later as A.U. Campus Etcherla, Srikakulam, and presently as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam.
The State Government sanctioned 12 additional courses to this Centre, of which only four courses, viz., M.Com., M. Sc. Mathematics, B.L. and M.L.I. Sc. were actually started from the academic year 1988-1989 and two more courses viz. M.B.A. and M.L. were added in the year 1994. During the academic year 2005-2006, M.A. Education course was started and in the academic year 2006-2007, the University Administration introduced M.A. English, M.Sc. Organic Chemistry and M.C.A. Courses in the campus.

3.1 How to Apply?
Presently the campus has 20 P.G. courses catering to the needs of 1350 Plus Post Graduate students and 27 research scholars working for their M. Phil. and Ph.D., and is backed up by 77 faculty members including, Assistant Professors, Teaching Associates, Teaching Assistants and Resource Faculty; and 191 non-teaching staff members.
The university offers courses like B.Com, B.B.A., M.B.A, PhD etc.The admission for the courses is possible via both online as well as offline mode and is based on merit basis.

UG Courses:
Under UG wing, BRAU, Srikakulam offers multiple programmes which include LLB, Integrated BA LLB, B.Ed, BA, BSc, BCom, and BBA. The duration of these programmes varies from course to course.
- Candidates applying for UG programmes need to have qualified Class 12 in the relevant stream
- For LLB and B.Ed programme, candidate must have passed graduation in the relevant discipline
- Admission to the UG programme is based on the marks scored in Class 12
- Candidates for LLB and BA LLB, are selected on the basis of marks obtained in Law Common Entrance Test (LAW CET). LAW CET is a state-level UG Law entrance exam conducted online by the University
PG Courses:
The University at PG level, offers various programmes such as MA, MSc, MBA, MCA, MCom, LLM, MTech, and M.L.I.Sc. The duration of these programmes varies from courses to course.
- For MBA, MCom, M.L.I.Sc, LLM, MSc, MA and MCA, selection is done on the basis of marks scored in graduation
- Admission to MJMC programme is based on scores obtained in the entrance exam conducted by the University itself
- Admission to the MEd programme is based on the marks obtained in MEd Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the University
MPhil and PhD Course:
Admission to the MPhil and PhD programme is based on the candidate’s score in Dr. BR Ambedkar University Research Entrance Test (Dr BRAU RET) conducted by the University. However, candidates who have qualified UGC NET/ UGC CSIR NET/ GATE exams are exempted from University’s entrance exam.

- A candidate has to pay Rs. 500/- (Plus Bank charges applicable for the mode of payment selected) as Registration and Application Processing Fee (and late fee if applicable) by opting any of the following modes of payments: (a) Andhra Bank / State Bank of India Challan (b)Debit / Credit Card / Net Banking.
- After filling the online Application form with the required details, verify all the details carefully and press Submit button.
- Filled in Application form will be generated that contains application number along with filled details. Take a print out of filled in online application Form. Use the Application number for future correspondence till the admission process is completed.

The University is a state government undertaken university; hence all the government scholarships apply to this university. Students who cannot afford the fee, and/or are from economically low backgrounds can avail the scholarships, education loans are also accepted by the college.

Hostels - Hostels are provided on campus for both boys and girls at nominal rates. The rooms are given on first come first serve basis on double and triple sharing, and every student is given an exclusive bed and study table. There is fast Wi-Fi on campus 24*7. Purified drinking water is available on all the floors of the hostel. 24-hour security is deployed on major spots of the campus and around the hostels. The mess serves hygienic, freshly prepared food every day for students and faculty. The average cost of a meal is Rs. 35.
