Gochar Mahavidyalaya was established in 1959 by a socialist and Educationalist, Chaudhary Multan Singh. The College started by offering only Agricultural courses but presently it offers a variety of courses in Arts, Science, Physical Education, Commerce, Management, Education, Home Science, etc. The admission to the College is basically merit-based but for B.Ed., the state-level entrance exam is taken.

Gochar Mahavidyalaya Facilities
- Hostel: Two hostels are built on the campus for boys and girls each. Both the hostels are well furnished, ventilated. There is a hostel library too for study purposes.
- Computer labs: The College has a separate computer lab with a good broadband connection for providing computer education to the students.
- Dispensary: First aid is available in the College in case of small injuries.
- Sports facility: There is a separate faculty for sports and Physical Education. The college has a big playground and students can go there to play in their free time. Indoor games are also available.
- Library: There is one central library and other departmental libraries in PG departments. There are journals, newspapers, magazines, and many knowledge books related to the subjects taught in the College.
- Faculty: There are nearly 50+ teachers in the whole College for all the departments. All the teachers are well-qualified in their specializations.
