National Institute of Unani Medicine or NIUM Bangalore is an autonomous institute working for the research, teaching, and training in the Unani System of Medicine. Since its establishment in 1984, it has been working under the aegis of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. The institute has affiliation with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science (RGUHS), Karnataka and is India’s first NABH accredited Unani Hospital.
It offers Postgraduate and Research level courses in various disciplines. Admissions to these courses are merit based. NIUM also caters to the need for the socio economically weaker section by conducting health camps.

Admission to National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore is entrance based. For PG courses, one needs to clear the AIAPGET and BUMS degree with a minimum aggregate score. Maximum age limit for General candidates is 35 years, for OBC candidates is 38 years and for SC, ST, Women is 40 years applying for PH.D courses.

- Candidates have to submit their application form with the essential scanned documents, the application form should be sent in the email within the deadline.

- The essential documents which are required to be submitted for PG admission are High School Certificate, AIAPGET scorecard, Mark sheets of all the attempted exams in BUMS, Degree Certificate, Internship Certificate, Caste Certificate (if applicable), Physically disable certificate (if applicable) and Registration fees for counseling in Demand Draft.

National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore Scholarships
NIUM scholarships are provided to the students who are socio-economically weaker and meritorious. A research fellowship is provided to Ph.D candidates in their first and second year as directed by the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Although the total duration is two years, the fellowship may be awarded for another year based on their performance.

- Library: National Institute of Unani Medicine has an enormous collection of books for the students.
- Herbal Garden: A unique feature of the National Institute of Unani Medicine is that they have a herbal garden filled with medicinal and aromatic plants.
- Animal House: Animal House is also a very distinctive feature of the National Institute of Unani Medicine. It houses animals that are used for making and experimenting with the efficacies of the Unani Medicines.
- Indoor Games Hall: A spacious hall equipped with all the indoor game facilities can be seen on the campus of the National Institute of Unani Medicine.
- Hostels: This institute provides hostel facilities for both the male and female students.
- Residential Blocks: There are also some residential blocks available for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institute.
- Hospital Building: Not only the National Institute of Unani Medicine houses academic units it also has a hospital building consisting of OPD wing and IPD wing consisting of 180 beds for male and female patients in separate wards. The hospital also gives advice on family planning, nutritional diet chart for obese, hypertensive, and diabetic patients. Apart from the treatment of the patients, the hospital building comprises Diagnostic Laboratories of Pathology, Biochemistry, Radiology & Ultrasonography. The institute also provides health care facilities for the economically poor section of the society by organizing health camps in their locality.
