About Government Polytechnic

Government Polytechnic at Karad is one of the oldest polytechnic institutes of Maharashtra. This institute is a part of an educational policy plan of the first chief minister of Maharashtra, late Y.B. Chauhan. The institute was established in 1957 at Ogalewadi and was offering the only diploma in civil engineering at the time of inception. From then on, it is expanding its area of reach till now by providing a diploma in six courses as of now. The institute is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of technical education.

The duration of the diploma course is 3 years. The eligibility criteria for the diploma courses in Government polytechnic is mentioned below:

The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
For the first-year admission post SSC, the candidate must have passed the 10th standard examination with at least 35 % aggregate.
For direct admission in the second year, the candidate must have completed 10+2 with Maths as one of the subjects,

10+2 with vocational,

(or)

10th + 2 years ITI with certification.

Application Process

The eligible candidates can apply for participation in the Centralised admission process for seeking admission to the technical institutes.
The application fee of INR 400 and INR 300 for the General category and other reserved categories respectively has to be paid.
Candidate can update/ edit the information in their application before the confirmation by visiting any of the facilitation centres.
The candidate can have a printout of the application for future reference.
The candidate should produce documents for verification at any of the facilitation centres. But due to COVID outbreak, they can opt either of the modes of online or physical scrutiny mode this time for document verification.
The final merit list will be released by the directorate of technical education on their official website.
Filling up and confirming of options should be done by the candidates.
Display of provisional allotment of seats will be made on the official website.
If the candidates get the seat in the required college, then they can reach out to the college and pay the fee and can get admitted to the college.
If not, they should wait for the next round of seat allotment to take place.

Government polytechnic has a placement cell that conducts various activities on the campus to get their students placed in good companies. The placement office conducts various online tests, counselling of students, and also arranges vocational training for them. It also arranges expert lectures for the final year students on topics like interview skills and career guidance, etc. Some of the companies that offer placement opportunities are Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, Philips, and many others.

Hostel- The college has separate hostels for both girls and boys. Boys Hostel has a capacity of 240 students while, the hostel provided for girls can occupy 160 girls. Both Hostels have 6 guest rooms with a TV connection.
Gymkhana- Gymkhana is there in both the hostel for boys as well the girls. The institute encourages sports activities by providing necessary support for the same.
Playground- Playground is also there for participating in the various sports activities in the candidate’s leisure time to provide a competitive environment.
Labs- All the departments have necessary labs required for enhancing of skills of the student, thus giving enough practical exposure to the students.
