About Balurghat College

Balurghat college is a co-educational institution located at the heart of the city Dinajpur , West Bengal. The institution is the largest college of the city and has crossed 72 years of establishment. It offers Honours and General courses across various streams such science, commerce and arts with various options of specialization.

The peculiarity is that the college offers Honours courses as well as General courses in BA, B.Com, and B.Sc. at undergraduate levels. The college does not have a placement cell to cater to the needs of employment opportunities but some internship opportunities with a stipend are provided to the deserving students. The students are also well trained after which they can apply for government jobs . However the students clear the competitive examination such as NET and SET .

The students of computer science also get placed in companies such as HP, TCS ,WIPRO,etc .

The college provides full or partial freeship education to the deserving candidates coming from a poor financial background.
The students are offered concessions on the basis of their performances and merit ranks too.
Reserved categories that are S.C ,S.T. and O.B.C have special scholarships that provide them relaxation in fees.
The Swami Vivekananda scholarship can also be availed by the students who have scored more than 75 % in H.S.C .

Ans. Yes the college does provide mess facilities and the food served is good and healthy.

Ans. An one time loan facility is available for students who are having difficulty in paying fees. EMI facilities are also available for the students.

Ques. Is fee the same for both Hons. and General course?

Ans. No. The fees for both the courses are not the same as Honours course’s fees is slightly higher than that of the general.

Ques. Does the computer science course ask for any special criteria?

Ans. The eligibility criteria for b.Sc Computer science is the same as other B.Sc courses . However, passing marks in the subject physics and mathematics are compulsory.
