Rural Engineering College was established in the year 1980. Since its inception college has gained status of having strong emphasis on academics and technical excellence. College is governed by the Rural Technical Education Society.

College is the first engineering college in North Karnataka.
College offers 7 undergraduate and a post graduate engineering program
College is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and is AICTE approved
