About Suri Vidyasagar College - [SVC]

Suri Vidyasagar College was established in 1942. It is a government affiliated college located at Suri in the Birbhum district of West Bengal. It is affiliated to University of Burdwan. At present, the college is accredited by NAAC with a CGPA of 2.77 on a seven point scale at B++ grade which is valid upto December 01, 2021.

The college provides undergraduate level Hons. and General programs in 19 different specializations including English, Bengali, Sanskrit, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Microbiology, Accountancy, Mass Communication, Geography and Arabic. SVC Admission

The application mode is online and the selection is based on merit.
The admission for UG / PG is held through online submission of student’s data and the whole process is conducted by the University of Burdwan. Minimum marks required for Hons subjects is 45 % in class 12 and for PG is 50% in graduation
Reservation of seats for SC, ST, OBC A OBC B and Physically Challenged candidates will be accordance to the existing rules of the Government of West Bengal. A Certificate from the competent authority must be produced during counselling for claiming such reservation. No application will be allowed to take advantage of more than one quota of reservation. Candidates having SC / ST / OBC / OBC B certificate issued by the states other than West Bengal will be treated as General category for Admission
The Merit List of valid applicants will be published website of college on date as per the published admission scheduled; the Merit list lists will be prepared in the descending order of merit index. In Case of a tie, precedence will be given to higher subject marks, wherever applicable.

SVC Facilities

The college provides the students with many facilities such as:

Hostel - The college has a boys hostel (60 seats) named ‘RabindraChatrabas’ at the north-eastern corner of the campus behind the pond ‘Nilakshi’ and the noted banyan tree. A Newly Constructed Girls Hostel, ‘MrinaliniChatriNibas’(42 seats), within the campus (Under UGC X plan) has been started from the academic session 2008-09. Due to high demand of the girls hostel, the College from the XI UGC Plan, allocated considerable fund and the 2nd floor of the hostel is currently under construction. It will in all probability be opened from the next session. Sick Room facility and Reading Room facility will be available in the girls hostel from next session onwards.

Library – It has a seating capacity of 50 and consists of more than 44,000 books. It provides the students with a large bank of knowledge that they can access.

Classrooms – The institute consists of 36+3 classrooms and more tutorial rooms to provide best education to the students.

Labs – The college consists of 28+3 laboratories which provide the students with practical knowledge.

Gymnasium – The college has a fully equipped gymnasium with various kinds of machines.

Sports Facilities – A variety of sports facilities are provided inside the college so that students remain fit and focus on their health. Sports fests are also organized.
