Balagarh Bijoy Krishna Mahavidyalaya

Balagarh Bijoy Krishna Mahavidyalaya, affiliated to the University of Burdwan, was established in 1985. It is named after revered Late Bijoy Krishna Modak, the noted fredom fighter, renowned educationist and life long social activist. It is presently running with the 3 streams- arts, commerce and pure science with honours courses in Bengali, History, Accountancy and Mathematics. The College is located at Jirat within a distance of five minutes walk from the Jirat Railway station of the Eastern railway.

• Though Balagarh was much advanced in past in the field of education, people belonging to scheduled castes and tribes were deprived of all advantages
• The hopeful event is that even the S.C. and S.T. students come forward for higher education after the establishment of this college
• At present about 50% students of the College are SC & ST

Vision and Mission:

• The vision of the College is to bring the region into the fold of contemporary higher learning scenario of the nation
• From its very inception, the college attempted to embrace the traditional wisdom and value-system of the country as its founding base and side by side tried to develop the modern and scientific outlook amongst the learners as well as in the social surroundings they belong to
• To keep these twin goals on a steady path has become the perennial goal of the College
• Even after more than twenty years of establishment of the College, first –generation learners constitute a major part of the student folk

Infrastructure:

• The college has infrastructure of 3.6 acres with boundary walls on all sides
• It has a three storied building with a covered area of 3,347 sq. metres
• There is another small single storied building of 108 sq. meters
• AT present college has 12 class rooms, one library, one reading room

National Service Scheme:

• The National Services Scheme unit of this college was formed and it started working from the education year of 1990-91 after getting affiliated from Burdan university National Service Scheme
• Soon after the first unit was made, second unit was started
• The students who take part in this society takes care of all the things like greenery in the college campus, medical facilities

Annual Cultural Concert:

Every year the students of this college organize the annual cultural concert. This Cultural Event highlights the healthy cultural development the students get in this college by the help of their professors, teachers & also the non-teaching staffs. The college keeps a strict vigilance so that, this healthy development among the students is not affected by any factors.
