About Calcutta Institute of Technology - [CIT]

Calcutta Institute of Technology, Kolkata was established in 2004, is one of the leading Institutes in the field of engineering. It is a private Institute with affiliation to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The Institute offers B.Tech at the UG level, M.Tech, and M.C.A. at the PG level and Diploma in various disciplines of Engineering. Admission to B.Tech is on the basis of valid scores in JEE Mains. Candidates who have applied for MCA are admitted by WBJECA conducted by the state and they shall be considered eligible only if they possess a graduation degree in the related field whereas admission to M.Tech is on the basis of PGET counselling conducted by WBUT.

Calcutta Institute of Technology Admissions

The CIT offers a total of 3 courses in the Engineering discipline, viz. Diploma courses, B. Tech courses and Post-graduate courses.

Admission Criteria for Diploma Courses- The candidate with 35% marks in 10th or equivalent is eligible to apply for the JEXPO (West Bengal Polytechnic Entrance). The selection for Diploma courses will be based on the marks obtained in JEXPO.
Admission Criteria for B.Tech Courses- The students seeking admission in B.Tech courses must have passed 12th Standard from any recognised Board or equivalent, the ones suitable in this criteria will apply for Joint Engineering Entrance conducted by the State. The selection of the students will be based on the marks scored in WBJEE.
Admission criteria for M.Tech Courses- In order to apply for an M.Tech course, the eligibility criteria is to graduate in any discipline of Engineering. Selection in the Institute will be done on the basis of PGET counseling conducted by WBUT(West Bengal University of Technology).
Admission criteria for M.C.A. Course- The candidate willing to pursue M.C.A. from CIT should hold a graduation degree in any of the relevant disciplines. The admission will be based on the marks obtained in JECA (Joint Entrance Examination for Masters of Computer Application)

How to Apply?

The application for admission in CIT for undergraduate and postgraduate courses are done online. The process for the online application is undergiven.

Visit the official website of CIT i.e., http://cit.urschard.in/
On the home page a 'ADMISSIONS 2020-2021 Apply Online' tab is available. Click on the link.
A new window will appear with a menu, choose "new application" tab from the menu column.
Fill all the required details and submit.
A new window will appear with a form requiring your personal and academic details.
Do not go back before the submission of the form.
Keep a printout of your application form for further use during the time of your admission.
The Institute releases a list with the name of admitted student, and after that the student has to visit the campus for counseling.
Following documents are required during the time of admission

1- Printout of the application form

2- 2 passport size photos

3- Candidate's valid government ID proof (Aadhar Card/ Voter Id Card/ Driving license/ Pan Card)

Once the candidate's admission is confirmed, the submission of fees should be done within the date. Your failure in the submission of fees will withdraw your admission. Try to fill in all the required details correctly, as the administration checks all the details and any detail found incorrect can debarr you from the admission.

Note: The reservation criteria completely depend on the reservation provided by the government of the state.

The placement cell of the CIT caters to get the cent percent placements. The placement drive is conducted almost for every discipline. Oasis Scholarship

Scholarship name	Eligibility
Post-matric scholarship for SC/ST students	You should be studying at the post-secondary or post-matriculation level and belong to SC/ST category. The annual income of parents/guardians should not be more than INR 2.5 Lakh from all sources.
Post-matric scholarship for OBC students	You should be studying at the post-secondary level and belong to the OBC category. The annual income of the family/guardian from all sources should not be more than INR 1 Lakh.

WBMDFC Scholarship (Students belonging to Minority Communities)

Merit Cum Means Scholarships

The student must be a domicile of West Bengal.
The annual family income of the student should not be more than Rs. 2.5 lakh.
The student must have secured at least 50% marks in the last Higher Secondary/ Graduation examination.0
The students residing in West Bengal but pursuing studies in listed institutions with WBMDFC but located outside West Bengal are also eligible to apply.

Post-matric Scholarship

The student must be a domicile of West Bengal.
The annual family income of the student should not exceed Rs. 2 lakh.
The student must have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
Students studying in institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible for the pre-matric or post-matric scholarship.
The student must be studying in a School/ Institution recognized by an educational Board/ Council/ University of the State/ Central Government.

Hostel: The campus has a separate girls and boys hostel, with amenities like furnished rooms, sufficient water supply, and an electricity generator for power backup.

Library: The Institute is fulfilled with a vast library with 54487 volumes of books including 2071 book titles, 115 national journals, 9 international journals, vast collection of E-journals, audio and video lectures, and research publications etc.

The library is well equipped with wifi connection, spacious reading area. Here students also have a book bank facility in which students can issue 5-6 books throughout a semester for reading at home.

Canteen: The Institute has a spacious canteen with hygienic workers and a capacity of 100 persons. The canteen serves hygienic lunch, tea, coffee and snacks at reasonable prices.
