About Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University - [PSTU]

Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University is an approved State University located at Hyderabad, Telangana. It is a UGC approved university that came into existence in 1985. It was accredited with ‘B’ grade by NAAC as an Autonomous Institution. It is the First University to introduce CBCS curriculum in Telangana state. Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University offers academic courses under sixteen departments, seven schools, and five centres in Hyderabad, Rajahmundry, Srisailam, Warangal, and Kuchipudi.

The University offers both regular as well as distance learning UG, PG, Ph.D., Diploma and certificate courses in different fields like Linguistics, Dance, Drama, Theatre, Journalism, Jyotisha, And Folk & Tribal Lore. It also offers courses designed for foreign students, and non-Telugu speakers residing in other states of India. Under the self-financed category, PG Diploma and Certificate courses in Film Direction, Astrology, and Music.

For UG students, the University offers a BFA course, 9 specializations in Diploma course and 8 in certification programme. For all these, the basic eligibility is 10+2. For PG students, Telugu University offers 6 specialisations under MA, 4 specialisations under MPA, and MCJ courses for which graduation is mandatory. The University offers courses for post-graduates as well including 8 specialisations under Ph.D. and 11 PG Diploma programmes.

Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University provides NET and other government competitive examination coaching for all the students. It also runs remedial coaching in spoken English for SC/ST students. The University also published a tri-monthly magazine titled Telugu Vaani.

Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Admissions

The admissions in the various undergraduate and postgraduate courses based on the PSTUCET entrance examination conducted by the University.
For Ph.D., the selection is based on the entrance exam, merit and interview conducted by the University.
The candidates who have qualified JRF are exempted from giving entrance tests for Ph.D.

Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Scholarships

The University provides Research fellowship to the students enrolled in the research level degree programmes like M.Phil.and Ph.D. The University exempts the tuition fee for all the students belonging to the economically weaker section category in all regular courses. The University provides scholarships to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS category through the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Department.

Central Library: The University Library equipped with approximately one lakh book and volumes of journals for reference purposes. The library has digitized about 14,000 old and rare books, journals, and periodicals. The library subscribes to about 52 periodicals and popular magazines, 16 newspapers in Telugu, and English from Indian publishers.

Hostel Facility: The University provides accommodation to its registered students.

Auditorium: The auditorium is fully-furnished with AC/Non AC and a seating capacity of 267 students.

Audio-Visual Studio: The University has audio-visual studios fully equipped with all high-quality audio and video facilities. It also runs a computer cell on the campus.

Museum: The University has three galleries related to paintings, contemporary art, and portraits of Telugu luminaries. The faculty encourages students to attend and participate in the Intervarsity competitions in Dance, Drama, Painting, and Sculpture.
