About Government Engineering College - [GEC]

The Government Engineering College was established in 2007 in the Haveri District of Karnataka. It was established mainly to deliver affordable technical education to the rural people of Northern Karnataka.

It offers a B. tech course with various specializations such as Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering with 60 seats in each course. It has also started offering PG courses in Structural Engineering and Machine Design 2015 and a Ph.D. in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

Admission takes place through the KCET exam and PGCET exam.

GEC Haveri Courses

GEC offers both UG and PG courses such as B. Tech or BE in various specializations such as Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. It also offers post-graduate courses in Structural Engineering and a Ph.D. in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Bachelor of Engineering(BE) or B.Tech	Duration: 4 Years Specialization: Computer Science Engineering , Electronics & Communication Engineering , Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Eligibility: Candidate must have passed 10+2 with 50% marks (Note : 45% for SC/ST/Category 1 )
M.Tech	Duration: 2 Years Specialization: Structural Engineering, Machine Design Eligibility: Candidate must have passed B.tech with 50% aggregate for general and 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates
PHD	Duration: 3 Years Specialization: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Eligibility :Candidate must have passed master’s degree in the relevant field from any recognized university. Candidates should have obtained at least 55% aggregate for general and 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates

Selection criteria

The candidates applying for B.Tech should be 10+2 and should have cleared the KCET exam with the qualifying minimum score varying according to different specializations.
Candidates applying for M.Tech should have passed 10+2+4 with a minimum of 55% aggregate in the relevant stream from a recognized university and qualified the Karnataka PGCET exam with the required cut-off score to become eligible.
For Ph.D., candidates must acquire a master’s degree in the relevant field from any recognized university with at least 55% aggregate.

GEC Scholarships

Scholarships are provided to meritorious students and underprivileged students. The government provides a scholarship named “Vidya Siri” to students who hail from economically weak families and students with good academic history. They offer scholarships amounting from Rs. 10,000 to 25,000. The college even provides a refund of Rs. 10,000 in the first year in the form of scholarship.

The college has a 33-acre campus with lush greenery and various indoor and outdoor facilities. The campus is very spacious and stretched out with many water bodies around in a village called Devagiri which is 10km from Haveri town. The campus is surrounded by greenery and the ambiance is quite peaceful and serene and ideal for providing a stress-free environment for students.

Parking facility- The campus is quite spacious and can accommodate many vehicles with utmost safety so that students, teachers, and the staff don’t have to worry about their vehicles. A conveyance facility is also available for students.

Library- The college has the library facility for all the students.

Transport- conveyance is available for students as the campus is situated

Labs- The campus is equipped with many labs such as chemistry labs, physics labs, etc.

Projectors- Lectures are delivered through projectors for better understating explained well-using presentations.
