About Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya - [IGKV]

Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, located in the rice bowl of India is an educational institution serving for the acceleration of growth in agriculture of Chhattisgarh since its inception in 1987. The journey which started as ‘Labhandi Farm’ is evolved into a huge campus of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya. The University offers a plethora of courses in Agriculture Discipline through Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Ph.D. programs. The University has 23 constituent government colleges and 15 affiliated private colleges.

IGKV Admissions

The admission in B.Sc. Agriculture/Horticulture is confirmed on the basis of merit in the CG PAT of the State Board. Admission in B. Tech. of Agriculture Engineering is offered on the basis of performance in the Pre Engineering Test (PET).
The admissions to Post Graduate courses are allocated based on the merit in the Common Entrance Test(CET) for graduates of Agriculture.
For Ph.D. also a Common Entrance Test is conducted by the university and admission criteria includes-performance in CET, academic score in Post-Graduation and written and oral tests.

IGKV Facilities

Library

The Nehru Library which is a hub for all associated colleges has around one lakh resources which include books, reports, thesis, journals, e-resources and other reference materials.
The library is subscribed to more than 200 journals and 3,500 online journals associated with Agriculture and other subjects.
The Library is furnished with modern services which include Wi-Fi connectivity, CCTV and anti-theft security systems.

Infrastructure

The campus is Wi-Fi enabled with internet access for departments and students. The classrooms are well-maintained and have screening facilities for lectures and video conferencing.

Sports

Games like Football, Volleyball, Cricket, Table Tennis, badminton have been prevalent in the university. Ample facilities of sports are available for the young sportsperson at the campus. The students have also won many laurels in the field of Sports.

Women’s Complaint Cell

To safeguard the security of all women at the campus, a separate cell is set up for complaints on harassment at the workspace.

The IGKV Placement cell serves efficiently in terms of placements and invites companies from the area of agriculture and related fields. The cell helps in getting their students the best opportunity possible. The students are well-trained through Personality development programs, career counseling workshops, and seminars. The Internships in research centers equips students with the required experience in their corresponding fields. Companies offering placements to students include Food Corporation of India, State Bank of India. Semantics Technologies Private Limited, Kribhco Fertilizers Limited, IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited, Nuziveedu Seeds, Crop data Technology Private Limited, etc. The average package ranges from 5-6 lakhs.
