Siddaganga Institute of Technology, popularly known as SIT, was established in 1963. It was established by Sree Sree Shivakumara Swamiji under Sree Siddaganga Education Society, and is located in Tumkur, Karnataka. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and accredited by the NAAC with “A++” grade. Siddaganga Institute of Technology offers 12 undergraduate,13 postgraduate and 16 PhD programmes. Some of the popular courses are B.E. / B.Tech, MBA/PGDM, MCA, M.E./M.Tech, B.Arch.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology Admission 2024

Admissions at Siddaganga Institute of Technology are done in both ways - online as well as offline modes. Admissions can be done for all the courses online but for document verification one must have to visit college by themselves after the completion of the admission process.

For SIT, 45% of the total seats are filled by CET candidates, 30% of the total seats are filled by COMED-K candidates and the rest of the seats are filled by JEE main score candidates who come under the Management Quota. The course-wise admission process of SIT is given below:

UG Courses

• Candidates of Karnataka need to appear in the KCET exam, The candidates residing outside Karnataka have to clear COMEDK exam for admissions in BE courses.
• After qualifying the exam, students have to appear for the counseling round, and according to their rank they can select the college for themselves.
• For CS/IT and Circuital branches, rank up to 3000 is required. For Mechanical/Civil branches 10,000 rank is sufficient to acquire a seat in this institute.

PG Courses

• A candidate with a valid GATE score or PGCET of Karnataka is considered for admissions in MTech courses

How To Apply?

• Candidates can apply through Karnataka CET by visiting the KCET website.
• The information brochure can be downloaded from the KCET website.
• Candidates are then required to fill and submit the online Application form online after filling all the requisite details as given in the information brochure.
• Payment of application fee can be made online through e-Challan.
• Scanned copies of passport size photographs, candidate’s signature, candidate’s left hand thumb impression and parent’s signature are required to be uploaded.
• Candidates must retain the following documents with them as reference for future correspondence.
  1. At least three printouts of the finally submitted online application.
  2. Proof of fee paid
  3. 2-3 copies of identical photographs that were scanned and uploaded on the online application.
• All successful applicants will be issued admit cards for the purpose of CET. Candidates must preserve the Admit Card till the admission in college.
• Outside Karnataka candidates can apply through COMEDK.

Note: The process of application for M. Tech, MBA and MCA course is same as that of B.E. However, candidates must apply through the PGCET link instead of the KCET link.

For Ph.D. Programs

• Candidates applying for Ph.D. programs can do so by collecting a copy of the application form from the institute’s admission cell.
• Application fees can be paid by cash or demand draft. Application form along with relevant documents must reach the institute’s admission office on or before the last date.
• Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview based on which admission is granted.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology is the first institution among the affiliated colleges of the Visvesvaraya Technological University to establish a full-fledged Training and Placement Department. 

Siddaganga Institute of Technology placement drive for 2023 is ongoing. The highest salary package stood at INR 46.54 LPA whereas for the average package stood at INR 13.75 LPA. Around 70 students received salary packages of INR 10 LPA as of now. This year placements and packages are much better than the previous year.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology Scholarships

Here the scholarships are divided into two type of categories:

1)Sri Sripathi K.A. Memorial Scholarship:

• The student must have secured his/her admission through CET placement only.
• The student should demonstrate good academic standing and should also have good co-curriculars.
• The student must demonstrate the financial need with all sources of income of the student. His/her family not to exceed INR 3.00 lakh per annum.
• Student's immediate family member including his/her brother/sister should not be Government employee/employee and should not be in any government industry/ company/organisation.
• The student should maintain good discipline with the administration/faculty and staff members of S.I.T.
• For first semester students, the criteria for selection will be based on the marks scored in the Pre-University Examination.

2)Dr. M.N. Channabasappa Endowment Fund Loan Scholarship:

• Award of loan scholarship is purely based on merit list.
• Students who are from financially weak backgrounds are provided the Scholarship.
• Students who are getting financial assistance more than 30% of the total fee from any source will strictly not be eligible for the award of loan scholarship.
• From the list of top 10 students, only one with the best performance in an interview would get the scholarship.
