Government Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition was established in the year of 1982 under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism and Government of Uttrakhand. The college offers Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) course for students. But in the year of 2006 Three Years Diploma course in Hotel Management and Catering was offered by the college and in 2007 Four Years Bachelor course in Hotel Management and Catering Technology was started which is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD and Government of India. The college has been rated as one of the best colleges not only of Uttarakhand but in the entire north India. It offers state of the art infrastructure facilities like Computer Lab, Cafeteria, Advanced - Training Kitchen and Bakery or Confectionary etc.

The college also carries full –fledged Training and Placement cell in a campus which interacts with corporate houses to explore the possibility of training and job placement of students.
