About Sree Narayana College

Sree Narayana College, Cherthala, Kerala, established in 1964, is a general degree college situated at Cherthala, Alappuzha district in Kerala. The college is affiliated with Kerala University and it is also recognized by the University Grants Commision(UGC). It is accredited from NAAC. There is nothing very fancy about the admission process of the college, an aspirant can take admission if he/she is 12th passed and he must be check if he/she got expected marks as given in the cut off list of the respective college under the course in which he/she wants to take get admission.

SN College, Cherthala Placements

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of the college takes the initiative to facilitate industry interactions, internships and placements. Through workshops, seminars and conferences, interactions between institution and industry are improved. The departments of Zoology, Botany, Computer Science and Chemistry have maintained regular alliances with close-by industries and several projects have been undertaken by our students. Resource persons from various areas of expertise, industrialists, agriculturists and CEOs are invited for lectures/interaction with the students in the institution to motivate them and guide them on career planning and entrepreneurship.

Linkages are established with Government agencies like Tourism Promotion Council, Gandhi Smarakam, Kanjikuzhy, Department of Youth Affairs, Department of Excise,RTO, NHRM,Aids Control Society, District Blood Bank, Town Rotary Club etc, and a persistent relationship with such organizations help widen the vision and outlook of our students as well as our teachers. One important venture is our interaction with ‘Kudumbasree’, a Government of Kerala initiative for poverty eradication through networking of women.

SN College, Cherthala Scholarships

The college caters to the educational needs of the economically and socially backward people of Cherthala and the neighbouring areas. At present, the institution is offering 12 UG programmes and 5PG programmes and 1 Ph.D. programme. The socio-economic profile of the students reveals that 92.4% belong to SC/ST and OBC Category. The updated prospectus and the handbook of the college provide the required information to students. Several Scholarships from the central, state, university and institutional levels are offered to our students.208 students have received external scholarships from outside agencies.

Besides this 90% of the students received financial assistance from the state government by means of stipend and lump sum grants etc. Poor students of the college receive financial aid from “KRIPA”, the student aid fund organized by the teachers. The institution has several endowments, scholarships, and awards for the benefit of the students. The golden jubilee endowment, the best student award and the like are instituted by the college to acknowledge the students who excel in curricular and co-curricular activities. Mentor-mentee sponsorship is also a new venture for student support.
All the students are brought under health insurance and coverage. Health Cards have been prepared for the first year’s students. Classes on Yoga, medical health survey, blood group detection, eye donation awareness, AIDS awareness, anti-drugs campaign, environment awareness, energy conservation etc. are provided by the NCC, the NSS, the women’s cell, daffodils (The English Club), the cyber hub, the Entrepreneur club etc. also aim at the overall development of student capacities.

Following are the Facilities of SN College, Cherthala:

Auditorium: The College has a spacious Auditorium where college assemblies, meeting, seminars and variety entertainments are conducted. It is also put into use as an indoor shuttle Badminton Court.

Computer Lab: Lab is situated with 30 computer systems in it with air-conditioned facility. Another Computer lab with internet facility having 10 computer systems is also built there.

Canteen: Lunch and Refreshment are provided at subsidised prices for the students in College Canteen.

Gymnasium: The College has an equipped Gymnasium Hall meant for benefit of Staff and Students.

Library: A well-equipped Library is situated in the College where students can read books and encyclopaedias.

Hostel: SN College has a separate hostel facility for Girls and Boys where they can get all required facilities.

First-Aid Cell: The Cell working under the NSS offers First-Aid Service to the Students and Public.
