BMS College for Women is one of the best colleges for women situated in Bengaluru. It is accredited thrice with an A ranking by NAAC in the years 2004, 2009 and 2016. The college is run by BMS educational trust for about 50 years and is affiliated with Bengaluru City University. It offers UG courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Computer science and Vocational courses and PG courses in Commerce, Mathematics and Chemistry. Candidates can also enrol in add-on courses, Certificate courses and Diploma programs. 

Students are admitted to its undergraduate programs based on merit compliant to government rules wherein, the students must have passed their higher secondary (10+2) or its equivalent from a recognized board. BMS College for Women Placements

• The placement cell was established in 1999 and has been successful in placing students in multi-national companies through campus and pooled campus drives.
• It provides personality development training, mock interviews, debates, spot sessions and various career guidance programs such as resume building, SWOT analysis, group discussions, aptitude tests and counselling. It provides students with internship training during vacations and by the end of the course two job opportunities for eligible students.
• The Student Entrepreneurship program aims at developing entrepreneurial skills by organizing campus exhibitions and provides skill-based services.
• The college offers many ad-on courses to make the students better employable and industry-ready. These are Clinical Biochemistry, Communicative English, Python, Business Accountant, Tally ERP-9, Stock Marketing, Event Management and Women Entrepreneurship. These courses on the most in-demand skills along with the student mentoring system and academics enable the overall development of the students.
• Some of the recruitment drives organized were Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Eox Vantage, KPMG, Paperboat and many others.
• 12 companies attended the 2018-19 campus drive and selected 242 students. In 2019-20, 183 students were placed through campus recruitment with the average CTC is INR 3.5 LPA (Lakh per annum).

BMS College for Women Scholarships

BMS College for Women offers support to its deserving and needing students in the form of scholarship and aid funds.

• Sri B.S. Narayan Memorial Scholarship- It is awarded to poor and meritorious students in the month of March. The selection of the students for the award is made by the selection committee.
• Endowment Scholarship- This scholarship is awarded to meritorious students based on their merit in all three years. The students are selected from each stream yearly.
• GSB Scholarship- This scholarship offered by the Goud Saraswat Brahman Scholarship league to needy and deserving students of the Saraswat group.
• Defence Scholarship or Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS)- Wards or widows of deceased/ ex-service personnel from armed forces, para-military forces or Railway Protection Force are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The scholarship amount is Rs.3000 per month for girl students.
• Sir. C.V. Raman Scholarship- This scholarship is sponsored by the Department of Collegiate Education, Karnataka and is awarded to meritorious girl students studying in government or private science institutions. The amount awarded is Rs.5000 per year and the selection is based on merit and the number of applications received.
• Sanchi Honnamma Scholarship- This scholarship is sponsored by the Department of Collegiate Education, Karnataka and is awarded to meritorious girl students studying in government or private arts and commerce institutions. The amount awarded is Rs.2000 per year and the selection is based on merit and the number of applications received.
• Central Wakf Council Scholarship- This scholarship is sponsored by the Wakf Council under the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Students can get a yearly scholarship of Rs.8000 for pursuing studies post matric. Students should have secured a minimum of 50% in the previous qualifying exam to be eligible for this scholarship.
• GOI Post Metric Scholarship for SC students- Under this central government scheme, SC students whose family’s total income does not exceed Rs.8 LPA and pursuing studies post-matric are eligible to apply. The awarding of the scholarship is based on merit and offers Rs.2 LPA towards tuition fee, Rs.3000 monthly towards living expenses and Rs.5000 monthly towards books and stationery. A one-time amount for buying a laptop for Rs.45000 is also provided.
• GOI Post Metric Scholarship for ST students- Under this central government scheme, ST students whose family’s total income does not exceed Rs.2.5 LPA and pursuing studies post-matric are eligible to apply. The awarding of the scholarship is based on merit and offers Rs.300 to Rs.530 a month based on the degree for day’s scholars.
• Post Metric Scholarship for Backward Classes and Minority students- This central government-sponsored scholarship is awarded to students of other backward classes, pursuing their post-matric studies, whose family’s annual income is not more than Rs.1 LPA. The scholarship amount is Rs.350 to Rs.160 for day’s scholars per month with the annual amount for study tour, thesis typing and printing charges and book allowances.

How can they avail these scholarships?

Students seeking scholarships need to contact the college administration office at the start of the session. Students claiming exemption of tuition fee, laboratory fee etc on the basis of their caste, parental income as per government provisions, should submit income certificate, caste certificate, in original and attested copies.
