Child development and upliftment of the lives of persons with disabilities (PWDs) has been the central area of work for the institution. It is working constantly on comprehensive rehabilitation of children and raise awareness at various platforms and communities to meet their needs. It is functioning to provide equality and dignity in lives of such people.

- Rehabilitation Training Centre: the institute is the first centre in the state to train rehabilitation professionals. It has been running RCI courses since 1991.
