About Department of Management Sciences, IIT Kanpur- [DOMS IITKP]
Set up in 1974 as an interdisciplinary program, the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering (IME) at IIT Kanpur is one of the first in the country to leverage the analytical education of engineers in the training of management professionals. DoMS IIT Kanpur has been ranked 29th by NIRF 2024 in the Management Category. The department currently offers MBA, MTech and PhD programs in Industrial and Management Engineering. The 2-year full-time residential flagship MBA program of IME Kanpur works along with the CAPSTONE program. The Capstone Project is a two-semester process in which students pursue independent research on a question or problem of their choice, engage with companies in relevant disciplines, and - with the guidance of a faculty mentor - produce a substantial paper that reflects a deep understanding of the topic. Admission to MBA is based on CAT score and to MTech is offered on the basis of a valid GATE score followed by a Written Test and Personal Interview round. For admission to its doctoral level PhD course, shortlist is done through a valid GATE score. For admission to the PGPEX VLM program, the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the entrance exam conducted by the institute followed by PI.

- Merit cum Means Scholarship: It is availed by those who are other than category (SC/ST) students with annual parental income less than 4.5 lakhs. The scholarship provides a full-tuition waiver and pocket allowance of Rs.1000 pm for the duration of the program.
