Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, formerly known as the National Rail and Transportation Institute, is situated on the National Academy of Indian Railways campus. The National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI) was established in Vadodara, Gujarat, in 2018. It was founded under the de Novo category as a deemed to be university. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is a Central University and an innovator in the field of transport and logistics education in India. Its main emphasis is on teaching about transportation. UG and PG programs are available at the institute. The NRTI itself would be conducting the admission exam for the candidates. JEE (Main), CUET-UG & PG, and the college entrance exam are the sole requirements for admission.

The mission of the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is to develop a resource pool of the best experts for the whole transportation industry spanning technology, management, and policy. The total duration of an undergraduate course is three years, divided into nine trimesters. For practical exposure, there are two mandatory internships provided. At the end of the first year, one was with Indian Railways, and at the end of the second year, the other is with the industry. Additionally, all undergraduate students are required to complete a thesis or project at the conclusion of their degree.

The NRTI offers a variety of courses, and each course has eligibility requirements. MBA in Transport Economics and Management or Logistics and Supply Chain Management (undergraduate degree in any stream with Math or Statistics, and minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% for OBC/SC/ST candidates); candidates having CAT, XAT, or MAT results are excluded from entrance Test, CUET-PG).MSc in Transportation Technology and Policy, Transportation Information Systems and Analytics, or Railway System Engineering and Integration (undergraduate degree in any field with math or statistics, and a minimum aggregate score of 55% (or 50% for OBC/SC/ST)). B.Tech. in communication and rail systems engineering.Rail Infrastructure Engineering B.Tech. (12th grade with PCM; admission based on JEE Mains score) All Streams of the BBA in Transportation Management (10 + 2 with Math). The National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI) offers its students the following amenities, including dorm rooms, dining facilities, internet access, modern classrooms, an auditorium, a playground, and a common area. The National Rail and Transportation Institute's (NRTI), Vadodara hostel system is quite noteworthy. The cuisine served at the hostel is both wholesome and delectable, and the accommodations are modern and well-equipped. For the benefit of the students, a mess facility is available where they can eat. Students have free access to the internet, which they can use whenever they need to for academic purposes. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya follows a need-blind admissions policy.
